Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

Will you live stream your ceremony?

Yes! The link is available here:

This page is showing limited content. How do I unlock more event details?

Scroll all the way to the bottom and click "Guest Only Details." Enter the password provided on the black card that came with your invitation. Enter your name when prompted, and then the page will be updated with all details relevant to you!

The name entry screen keeps rejecting my name!

Your guest access and RSVP are available under the name we typed in for you. This should be the name you typically go by rather than your formal full name. Try different variations of your first name (e.g. Steve vs. Steven). If that doesn't work, try the name of your spouse or someone else in your family. If that still doesn't work, text us at the number farther down this Q&A.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by November 1st, so we can have an accurate headcount.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at the Church around 1:30 pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 pm and we request everyone to be seated in the pews by 1:50 pm.

Questions about Catholic Weddings?

This will be a Catholic wedding ceremony. The sacrament of Marriage will take place during Mass. You do not have to be Catholic to attend! Programs will be provided to help you follow along during the Mass. It will be about an hour long.

Can I bring a date?

Please check your RSVP for your assigned +1! If you would like a +1 and do not have one assigned, please text us at the number farther down this Q&A and we will see if there is room.

Are kids welcome?

Yes! They should be included in your RSVP.

What will the weather be like?

Winter in Seattle can normally be summed up with one word: Rain. Expect temperatures in the 40s and clouds or rain. As it will be December, snow is possible, though unlikely.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The Ceremony and Reception are both indoors, though we invite you to take a walk along the beach in golden gardens park before or after the reception! (Bring a change of shoes for the sand).

Where should I park?

Both the church and the reception venue have free parking lots.

What should I wear?

Formal wear is encouraged but not required. We want everyone to be comfortable and feel great!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. We would love for you to take photos of the reception and share them on our Joy app.

Whom should I call with questions?

Neither of us is great at answering the phone, but you can text us at (360) 949-8182 with questions, and include your name!

Is there a gifts registry?

Yes! It is available on the website now! Let us know if you have any questions about the registry

Story

Who knew studying physics together could teach you so much about a person? We'd been acquaintances at UW's Catholic Newman Center for six months in our first year of college before we discovered we were taking the same level of physics and one of us desperately needed help (we'll leave you to guess which one). We tried studying together and ended up talking about everything other than physics. Our study sessions became conversations, which became walks on campus late at night and trips to the Seattle waterfront, which became officially starting to date in April 2019.

From there, we were each other's rock and each other's go-to for the rest of college. College was a busy and stressful time for us as we were both engineering majors balancing academics, jobs, clubs, and leadership roles at the Newman Center on top of our relationship. Despite the challenges, it drew us closer together and taught us how to support one another. We spent our time off exploring Washington on countless hikes, watching whole TV series and movie franchises, eating way too much junk food to feed our rival sweet tooths, and planning trips with our close group of college friends.

On February 21, 2022, we set off for another hike together. Arriving at the trailhead which was a little ways up in the mountains, we noticed that snow overnight had frosted all the trees in white. After a mystical hike through the sunbeam-pierced mist with snow falling out of the trees onto our heads, we found a private ledge with a view of the snow-covered mountains and sat down for lunch. Ryan set up a camera tripod we'd brought along to take some photos together as snowflakes fell into Maria's hair. He discovered the camera battery was dead and grabbed a new battery out of his bag to swap it. Except the new battery was actually hollow and inside was a diamond ring... and now we are engaged!

We're so excited to be getting married and beginning the next stage of our lives side by side. And we're so excited as well that we get to share a part of that journey with you! We hope to see you on December 17th!

Tidbits

Who's going to take out the trash?

Ryan - It's a chore Maria hates doing. However, she has agreed to do laundry so long as Ryan cleans the bathroom since she also hates that.

What was your most memorable date?

Ryan used his pilot's license to fly us into the San Juan Islands for a dinner date, and timed the return flight right into the sunset.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Hawaii (the Big Island)! We're so excited to relax on some warm beaches and go hiking on some active volcanoes. Maria has never been to Hawaii and while Ryan has, he has never been to this island and really wants to go.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

A road-trip to national parks with our friends! We went to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier, and made a 36-hour Spotify playlist.

A life goal of ours

Have a family :)

The dorkiest thing about us is

Ryan, for sure.

We are regulars at

good Thai restaurants and boba tea shops.

We take pride in

being the most third wheelable couple. We actually feel uncomfortable excluding you from our interactions.
