Q & A
For all our friends and family who have questions, please check out our Q & A!
Are kids welcome?
We can't wait to have your kids join in the festivities! There is not any formal childcare on site so please plan accordingly.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The wedding is completely indoors (it's April in Philadelphia!!)
Should I worry about the weather?
1. April in Philadelphia can be rainy, and the temperatures normally range from 47 to 63 ºF.
2. Except for shuttles between the main hotel (Loews) and the Catholic church, you will need to walk or find other transit between venues.
3. Except for the Bharath, all wedding events are indoors. The Bharath will be a festive ~0.3-mile procession from the Loews hotel to the Crystal Tea Room.
What should I wear?
The attire for the whole day is black tie optional. If you have formal Indian clothes, you are encouraged to wear them! If not, don't worry - the majority of people there will be wearing Western clothes. We have also gotten questions about whether it is inappropriate to wear black to an Indian wedding. We want you to be comfortable and wear whatever you would like - Vik will be wearing black for parts of the day.
To participate in all of the events on the wedding day, how many times do I have to change clothes?
Zero is the short answer. You can wear either Western formal (Black-tie optional) or Indian wedding attire for the entire day. Some people, including the wedding party, will wear Indian wedding attire in the morning and then change to Western formal (Black-tie optional) for the afternoon. However, guests do not need to change.
Could you more clearly define the dress codes?
Indian wedding attire: Sherwani, Kurtha, Sari, or Lehenga
Western wedding attire:
-For the Bharath and the Hindu wedding: You can wear the same outfit for the whole day if you would like! If you wanted to wear something different for the Bharath, it is also appropriate to wear cocktail attire.
-For the Catholic wedding and the reception: For those planning to wear a suit, a tuxedo or a dark suit is appropriate. If you are planning to wear a dress or pantsuit, a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit is appropriate.
Where should I park?
If you are staying at the Loews or another nearby hotel, we recommend parking there and walking, taking a taxi, or Ubering to the wedding venue. There is parking available at the Wanamaker building and costs are typically about $30 for 24 hours of parking.
Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?
Yes there is! We have shuttles that will transport people from the Loews and Home2 Suites to St. Patrick's Church and back to the Crystal Tea Room for the reception. If you wish to walk you are more than welcome to. The longest distance will be between St. Patrick's Church and the Crystal Team Room (where the Hindu ceremony and reception will be taking place) which is about 0.8 miles or 16 minutes walking.
Is there a gifts registry?
Your presence at our wedding is more than enough! However, for friends and family who have been asking for gift ideas, we’ve created a registry with options to donate to a cause close to our hearts, contribute to house-furnishing fund, or find items to get us started in our next chapter together!
1. You can find the gift registry by going to the registry section of the website and using the “ZOLA” button at bottom of page.
2. You can make a contribution to the charity by going to our website and using the fancy-font, “RIP Medical Debt Campaign” button at bottom of page. The charity is called RIP Medical Debt, and it has a 100% rating on Charity Navigator. If you use the “RIP Medical Debt Campaign” button, you can access a video with a more complete explanation of how it works.
