Story
This love story begins with a chance meeting in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia on June 12th, 2017. A place and time where the lives of two complete strangers were forever altered by kismet. Megan was there for work as an assistant to a Los Angeles-based motivational speaker, while Mathieu was on the island during his six-month journey in Central and South Asia. Smitten from the outset, Mathieu worked up the courage to ask Megan to join him to dinner that evening, his last night in Ubud. Megan said she could do the following night. It was immediately clear what his next move should be: extend his hotel stay! Good thing he did, because it was a once-in-a-lifetime date night.
And so the story goes for these two lovebirds: a life that came so close to never happening.
All great love stories require effort, dedication and perseverance. It was no different for us, but maybe add a bit of each given our different locations. Megan is a warm weather girl who lived in Los Angeles; Mathieu is a cold-loving Canadian who lives in Toronto. But distance or weather were no match for this love. Whether it was Mathieu going to Los Angeles for one month during the tail end of his big travel; Megan's first trip to Canada (and meeting Mathieu's family) two months after Bali; a long weekend getaway to New York City in the fall; gallivanting around Europe together over the holiday season; or Megan relocating to Toronto. This love that came so close to never happening overcame the odds at every turn. It overcame them big time when Mathieu took Megan to Tulum, Mexico in April 2018, where, on a beach under a moonlit sky, he and his shaky knees asked Megan to be his wife.
Through highs and lows, every day since we've met we have celebrated our unlikely love and all the amazing things that it has brought to our lives. We are so thrilled to have celebrated these events with our friends and family in Canada, the U.S., and all the way to Europe (shout out to the Brussels Crew!). But we could find no greater joy than to invite you all to celebrate with us as we GET MARRIED!! Join us and let's make amazing memories together.
