Our Story

What was it like at the beginning of the relationship?

"Back then, when Kenny still had a flip phone and couldn't stand texting, he was constantly doing the unthinkable....he would pick up the phone and call me. The first time he did it, I stared at the phone nervously, waiting for it to go to voicemail." - Meli

"Due to my schedule it was hard to find time for dates early on, so sometimes I would ask Meli out on atypical days when I could -- for instance, I think our second or third date was on a Tuesday. We lovingly referred to it as 'date night bingo' (a Monday here, a Thursday there...) and were excited once we finally got all 7." - Kenny

What are some things that you admire most about each other?

"Meli's clever wit and infectious smile keep us smiling and laughing together, and her caring nature and love of family keep her loved ones close and connected. One of my favorite memories was her Grandmother's 100th birthday party. Not just the party (which was great), but the love and care she gave to planning the party and the way her family all came together to celebrate and treasure this special person." - Kenny

"I found a best friend and partner in Kenny. He's open, honest and thoughtful. He makes me feel at ease with his easy-going personality and constant jokes. There's nothing we can't talk about, and most of the time we can't stop talking." - Meli

When did you realize that you had found a keeper?

"From the beginning, Kenny was always so nice. I didn't think anyone could be that genuinely nice. But on our first Easter when he asked me to go to church with him, I realized it wasn't an act. He was the real deal. " -Meli

"Our relationship gradually grew stronger and stronger over time -- it really felt like the song lyrics 'I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.' The great relationship she and Adelaide developed confirmed that Meli is not only a good match for me, but for our family, too." - Kenny

Q & A

Check back for more Q&A as we get our act together

Where should we stay?

Miami Beach! We recommend staying in the South of Fifth area for its proximity to the beach, restaurants and local feel. The Marriott Stanton and Urbanica hotels will both offer a special group rate for our guests. If you choose another hotel (because there are many!), just a heads up that north of fifth on Ocean Drive can get VERY touristy.

How will I get to the ceremony and reception?

We will be arranging a shuttle that will take you to and from the Marriott Stanton. If you're a local and insist on driving... don't! Be safe and use Uber.

Should I rent a car?

If you're staying in Miami Beach, parking can get very expensive. Unless you're planning to explore other parts of Miami, Uber is the way to go here

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

This wedding is outdoors, my friends. Miami in January? You'll love it.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

While the dance floor won't be a problem, getting around in the garden might get tricky in a pair of stilettos. So as we say in spanish..."ojo"

Are kids welcome?

Due to the various ponds and water features at the garden, our venue requires that all children under the age of 15 be supervised at all times.

Can you suggest a babysitter for the hotel?

Yes! Just let us know and we will provide you with a list of reliable babysitters for the hotel.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

We couldn't agree on Schguez (shu-gwez) or Virgueni (ver-gway-nee), so it looks like it will have to be Schoeni!

What is the dress code?

Semiformal / Dressy Casual
