Sandra & Michael

It's happening! In Spain! We are excited to share our special day with you!

Sunday April 14, 2024

Sitges, Spain

Story

50 miles couldn't keep us apart and we feel lucky to have found each other on a dating app! Sandra's profile caught Michael's eye right away and Michael's profile talked about the terrors of hard-boiled eggs. Love at first read!

Michael had a rule that before any date, we had to talk on the phone. Through several conversations we went through our lists and checked our boxes. The day came when we made a date to meet on the battlefield of the tennis court.

The tennis was not great but the date was. He even rescued Sandra from a spider! I think we both knew there was something there and have had lots of adventures together since.

Tidbits

Who made the first move? How?

He made the first move when he had Sandra look away and snuck in a kiss on the cheek.

What was your most memorable date?

The first time we traveled together was a weekend at the hot springs. It gave us the chance to see how we travel together and adapt to interesting situations including being very cold in a yurt. We survived not getting inducted into an elderly cult and the weekend was a success. This was when we both started to love each other.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We're going to Thailand! It was on both of our travel lists, so Thailand here we come!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Our trip to Italy in Jan of 2023! This is where we got engaged and celebrated Sandra's 40th.

How did you propose?

Michael fumbled through a proposal inside of Mount Etna in Sicily. Our tour guide was ready to go so the pressure was on! He has made up for it by re-proposing every day since!

What's your favorite activity together?

We love to cook together and for one of our dates, Sandra had to help Michael make a pie blindfolded!

We’re on the same page about

The importance of family, our love of travel, and that doughnuts and farmers markets are not to be missed!

The dorkiest thing about us is

Bedtime is 8:30 sharp! (yes we're old!)

We are regulars at

Yoga- every Thursday!

Note

Be Aware of Pick Pockets!

Barcelona is well known for having pick pockets. Be aware to have your purse, wallets, etc. close to you and not easily accessible.

Phones could be grabbed from your hand, so have a good grip if you are holding your phone out, otherwise, keep in your purse or pocket for safe keeping.

Note

Communicating while Abroad

WhatsApp is free and a great messaging app to use while traveling abroad. Check it out with the link or you can find it in the app store on your phone.

Other quick notes:
Before traveling, if you want to use cellular service, check with your carrier if you need to turn this on for your plan. You can travel without using cellular service by using wifi in places like the airport, hotels, restaurants, etc. WhatsApp works over wifi for both messaging and calls.

Note

Financial Tip

Before traveling, be sure to alert your banks or credit cards of your travel to avoid any headaches with using your cards abroad. Please be aware that there could be foreign transaction fees your bank will issue as well.

Spain uses Euro so you can always grab cash to have on hand. Check the link for a USD to Euro conversion.

Note

Global Entry

If you want to skip the line when you return home to the United States, check out getting Global Entry clearance. There is an application process to follow but highly recommend checking it out.
