Miranda & Chris

We can't wait to share our special day with you.

Saturday June 17, 2023

Oakland, CA, USA

Story

We still debate who found whom.

A couple weeks after Miranda moved to Los Angeles, Chris "liked" Miranda first. Miranda "liked" him back so that there was a match, and she asked him out to her favorite local bar.

Within just a few weeks, they had fallen in love. Chris decided that the first one to say "I love you" would owe the other a dinner at a restaurant of their choosing. Miranda asked the bar musicians to play "In My Life," and she said it first.

Since their first date of 5+ hours of talking about politics, music, baseball, and cats, they have lived together in Cleveland and southern Massachusetts, braved a cross-country drive with three cats in the back seat, traveled to Arizona (spring training!), Las Vegas, Portland (Oregon), San Francisco, San Diego, Ann Arbor, and New York City, and gone to baseball games in Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Oakland, Phoenix, New York City, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Boston.

They look forward to many more adventures ahead!

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

We met online (99% match).

Who made the first move? How?

We still debate that one.

What was your most memorable date?

This is a tough contest. Our second date, we went to an Angels game and then walked and talked along the beach afterward. Our fourth date, we protested together for immigrant rights at the downtown Los Angeles ICE detention center. It was clear early on that we were a match.

What's your favorite activity together?

Data-driven election predictions and baseball games. Which sometimes means ending up rewatching Moneyball for the millionth time.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Hopefully Europe. We both want to go to Paris, and Miranda is aching to go to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. We also want to check off every ballpark in America.

We’re on the same page about

Everything but sports teams!

The dorkiest thing about us is

Where do we begin...

A social cause we care about

Defending American democracy and expanding health care access.

Travel

Plane

Flying In

We recommend flying into Oakland or San Francisco International Airport. Oakland is closer, but San Franciso may be less expensive.

Car

Getting to Oakland

There a lots of ways to get to Oakland! There are several car rental options from the airport, and Lyft and Uber are relatively inexpensive. BART will take you from OAK or SFO to downtown Oakland or Berkeley. The Temescal Beach House isn't by BART, so we recommend carpooling or Lyft/Uber since there isn't a ton of parking.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by March 15th, so we can have an accurate headcount.

What will the weather be like?

It should be warm and sunny, but it's the Bay Area so fog isn't out of the question. Mark Twain once said that the coldest winter he ever had was a summer in San Francisco, so pack a sweater just in case.

Where should I park?

There are 15 designated spots at the Temescal Beach House. We recommend carpooling or a rideshare given the rather limited nature of close-by parking.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes, it is ADA compliant.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors, but our reception will be indoors.

Will there be COVID precautions?

We ask that all guests be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. Masks are optional.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Wear whatever you're comfortable dancing in!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them.

Whom should I call with questions?

Feel free to text Miranda at 347-371-2358 with questions.
