Our Story
Before We Were an Us
Steph was the first to notice the other when Jordan and his family played an impromptu jam session when his whole family came to ACF (Asian Christian Fellowship) retreat. It wasn’t until a year later at the next retreat that Jordan noticed Steph because she somehow was wearing a scarf with the same design as his. They soon both found themselves serving in the same worship team for ACF. Though so close they almost never spoke to one another both only admiring one another from afar.
The Connection
The first time the two had a real conversation was at Cafe Brugge during a summer ACF eatup in 2015. They sat across from one another and Steph decided she would ride in Jordan’s car back to Oakland. Jordan was intrigued with Steph’s engaging personality and unique wit. He decided to try and get to know her better. Over the course of the summer they found themselves doing many things together from going to the DMV to a four hour trip to DC. Finally Jordan worked up the courage to lure Steph up to the top of Schenley oval to surprise her with a dance and ask her for a date.
Closer and closer
Steph took a while to answer Jordan’s dating proposal but in the end she accepted with a dance of her own. Since then they’ve had many adventures together, going to see Taylor Swift in another country, braving the Texas floods, and driving through a white out to go skiing. Through it all they’ve grown, learned from each other, and drawn closer to God and one another from periods of laughter and disagreement.
The Proposal
It wasn’t long into the relationship that Steph and Jordan thought their relationship was something special that they wanted to preserve. So after securing permission from Steph’s parents Jordan began to plan a proposal of course based upon their shared love of Taylor Swift. September 25th 2016 Jordan asked Steph to marry him on top of Mt. Washington to a performance of Love Story by his siblings and cousins. This time he didn’t have to wait more than a second for her to say “Yes”.

Q & A
For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our FAQ first!
Where are we getting married? Why?
We are getting married at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh.
First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh holds special significance for Jordan and Steph for many reasons. Firstly it is a God centered church which honors the tradition of marriage as it is defined in scripture. For Jordan’s family, First Presbyterian Church is a time honored tradition for wedding ceremonies. Both of his grandparents were married in that church even the officiant himself Gordon Ott, shares in the tradition of beginning his married life inside this 6th avenue church. Finally, in the early days, First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh used to be the home of Pittsburgh Chinese Church, which is Jordan and Steph’s home church currently. By choosing this church Jordan and Steph seek to honor the significance First Presbyterian Church has had in the communities they’ve been a part of and begin their marriage in the same way which their forerunners have begun.

Registry
Dear family and friends,
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all.
However, if you wish to honor us with a gift, the bride and groom have registered a list with Zola.
Because the bride and groom are moving to Seattle after the wedding, a gift in an envelope would be greatly appreciated.
