Story / Notres Histoires
We first met eyes across a crowded room in a little village hall outside Bath. We slowly got to know each other though life carried us to different places, we always had a beaming smile when we saw each other again. Years later as I was back living in Bristol, Conor plucked up the courage to ask if we could "be more than friends". Since then we've shared an amazing two years, of movie nights, weekends in the countryside, laughing, singing loving and supporting each other every day. On our two-year anniversary Conor proposed at the magical Chalice Well Gardens on a bench under a tree, he read a poem as I teared up, got down on one knee and asked ‘will you marry me?’.
Will You
I’ve been thinking a lot
About what makes me happy
And it’s you
That I keep picturing
Smiling back at me
With a super nova’s radiance
The light within you brightening
The room around you, me.
If I think of a home then you’re in it
Your artist’s eye improving it
The meals we cook an offering
Followed by snuggling
Making it home.
When I think of holidays you’re with me
Exploring new countries, cities, forests, islands,
Discovering coves in which to while away a day or two
Tasting the finest local fare
And walking side by side.
Side by side we’ll move together
Down the pathway of our years
As it moves between meadows and brambles
Over hills and through valleys
Our family and friends behind us
Wishing blessings for the way
With Baba Ji our guiding star
Lighting our way home.
I hope to make this trip my last
Foray onto Planet Earth
That you’ll be my life’s companion here
Before we enter eternal light
And be my friend and comfort
My confidant and muse
That we can hold and care for each other’s dreams
And move together to our better selves
Twin wings on a single swan
That we can be united as this ring.
