Story
God had a plan brewing before our families even knew it. Both of our grandmothers on our moms' side of the family were involved in many of the same organizations within the Austin community. Flash forward to our parents' generation, they too were involved in many of the same organizations with each other. It would only seem serendipitous that our lives would grow into something more than just friends. We knew each other growing up because of our parents' and grandparents' friendships with each other...but little did we know that our friendship would develop into something more.
Paige's version.
To start off, I put all guys in the friend zone. I'd rather them be my friend than have some sort of romantic relationship that doesn't work out.
I had recently graduated from college and had moved back home before heading off to upstate New York to work with racehorses. Moving back to Austin after college I was forced to meet new friends as many of my high school friends weren't coming home. So, when I saw a familiar face I always took advantage of saying hello!
I was at a debutante ball in January of 2015 and saw Wynn. So, I went up and said hi. Yes, we knew who each other were but we weren't the closest of friends. He had told me that he moved back from Midland...I instantly thought A FRIEND IN AUSTIN! I proceeded to tell him that we should get lunch (because that is a friend-zone timeframe and I didn't want him to think anything more).
Fast forward about two weeks from that night. We had made plans to grab brunch. I told him I would meet him there. I remember, like it was yesterday, my mom saying "this is a date". I kept telling her 'NO! IT'S NOT A DATE'...because it wasn't...at least that is what I thought. Then, about 10 minutes before I was hopping in the car I get this text from Wynn. "Text me your address again, I'm going to swing by and pick you up". Insert hand to palm. I instantly went to my mom saying "noooo...he thinks it's a date"! And look, 8 years later here we are getting married!
