Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

Wait, so you all got married? Is NYE still happening?

Yes! We officially got married on November 4th, 2023 at 12pm at a private ceremony. New Years Eve will be our wedding reception and we can't wait!

What's the food situation?

While we will not be serving a "meal", we will small bites throughout the evening.

Are kids welcome?

While we do love all your little ones, the plans for our New Year's Eve event go towards a more adults-only vibe.

What should I wear?

This is a black-tie event. Expect to see tuxedos with black bow ties, a simple long black-tie or even a long string tie. It's also NYE, so sequins are completely appropriate. Come dressed to the nines and ready to party!

Can I bring a date?

Please check your invite or RSVP details on this site for any +1 details!

Where should I park?

We’re only a one block away from the Hilton Hotel but if you need to park, we have limited spots next door at Milward’s Funeral Home. A few spots are reserved and others are first come first serve. Street parking is free on the weekend, and there will be ample ride shares available. Please don’t drink and drive.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Indoors! Everything will take place inside the Lexington Opera House.

What if I have a dietary restriction?

There will be a space to note that on your RSVP or feel free to contact us and we can plan accordingly. (See contact in the next Q...)

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

J: Wear your dancing shoes. But any shoe can be a dancing shoe!

Whom should I contact with questions?

Feel free to email theherairuhs@gmail.com with anything that comes to mind.

Registry

Step right up to our wedding registry, where the admission fee is free! We've got rings, we've got bling, and we've got everything in between. No pressure, though. While your presence is truly the greatest gift, we won't say no to a little sprinkle of generosity. It would be like cotton candy on top of our special day—sweet and delightful. But remember, your love and support are the main event!

Story

She was on the verge of giving up. He was back in town and looking for love. He had to message her TWICE! She recognized him and kept scrolling back to the photo with his big ol' grin. They initially bonded over pineapple on pizza and the movie 'Heavyweights'. He quickly made a move, and she respected that, a lot. It was definitely off to a good start.

She almost backed out of their second date, but was astutely convinced by her now matron of honor to give him one more shot. And she's forever glad she did, because that date was a hole in one. Literally. He took her putt-putting at what is now their wedding venue, the Lexington Opera House. They made a bet, he got a hole in one, she made him her famous homemade pizza... and the good start was becoming a great journey.

Tidbits

Who made the first move? How?

J: Me! TWICE!
R: Yep, he checked his phone more than me.

What was your most memorable date?

R: Our second date at the Lexington Opera House. During Covid, they turned the whole stage into a Broadway-themed putt-putt course. On the date, both were surprised at Rachel's hidden competitive spirit.

J: When Rachel took ME on a date for the first time. It was raining and she took me to the Lexington Cemetery... (I know, right?). Ultimately we found our favorite restaurant - FAVOR.

What's your favorite activity together?

J: Cooking, traveling and eating
R: Cooking, anything we dub an 'adventure' and drives where Joey sings at the top of his lungs

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Los Cabos, Mexico AND Napa Valley, CA.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

J: Northern Ireland will always have a special place in my heart. Tucson, AZ genuinely surprised us both!
R: San Diego, Chicago, Northern Ireland, Tucson, Nashville

We’re on the same page about

J: Spending time with the people we love most. (You all!)
R: ^RT

The dorkiest thing about us is

J: Rachel makes up songs and jingles for anything and everything.
R: And Joey picks them up and sings them too.

A social cause we care about

J: SAVE THE (SEA) TURTLES. Ask Rachel about her plastic straw consumption - it's willlllld.

We are regulars at

Favor, Happy China, Old School Coffee, Frederick Douglass Football games, Hope Presbyterian Church, Rachel's parents backyard, Nails Pro 5

We take pride in

Gus Gus' manners, the front yard landscaping, our knowledge of the Lexington restaurant scene, our 'travel agent' and 'cruise director' traveling relationship
