Story

We met online and 2 weeks later, had our first date at Jamie's Italian in Guildford, which no longer exists.
Dan's last words on the first date were "you're a weird mother******".
Rose said to her mum, "I'm going to marry that man one day".

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

See Our Story!

Who made the first move? How?

Rose sent the first message. Dan didn't like Santa, which Rose discovered shortly afterwards, but her brother said "if that's the only issue you have with him, you should just go for it" 😂

Who's going to take out the trash?

Dan

Your presence is enough of a present to us! But for those of you who are stubborn, we've put together a wish-list to help you out.

If you would like to donate some money to us for our honeymoon this year to Australia, that would be lovely. Otherwise, we will be grateful for anything you get for us or make for us.

We will happily accept cash if you would like to pop any into a wedding card and gift on the day. Alternatively, if you would like to transfer some money across, please email us directly at wedding@d-searle.co.uk and we'll be able to provide you with BACS details of the account to pay into.

Getting In

We recommend flying in from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport!

But seriously, if you're staying at a hotel nearby and need any assistance, please contact either one of us directly.

Hotel Product

Alton House Hotel, Normandy Street, Alton, UK

Only a 15 min drive from the venue. Prices are usually under £100 per night so you tend to be able to get a fairly decent rate. Closest hotel from Alton train station as within 5 minute walking distance.

Swan Hotel, High Street, Alton, UK

Slightly further out than Alton House Hotel from the train station. Situated within the town centre, it's about a 15 min walk from Alton train station and also only about 15 mins drive from the venue. Rumour has it that you need a step ladder to get into the bed...

Hotel Product

Farnham House Hotel, Alton Road, Farnham, UK

Sister hotel to the Alton House Hotel, Farnham House is a stone's throw from the venue, on A31, just 10 mins away. More countryside old Tudor building if you prefer that kind of thing.

Hotel Product

Premier Inn Farnham hotel, Guildford Road, Farnham, UK

What's not to like about a Premier Inn? Probably going to be more pricey than Alton (because it's Farnham) but they guarantee on the ads you can get a great night's sleep!

Taxi

Wilson Taxis, Station Road, Alton, UK

Pretty decent Taxi service, although you do have to book well in advance with these guys. I would recommend, if you're staying in Alton in particular, if you've booked your hotel room, getting straight onto them to book a taxi to guarantee the car.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

Are kids welcome?

Please check your invite if your little ones have been selected for processing

What will the weather be like?

It's Britain. We suggest checking MET Office prior to deciding to put on your finest hot pants

Based on how 2023 was on this date, it was pretty good. It was literally on that annoying cusp week between when it was cloudy and when it suddenly decided to be crazy sunny so ... we're prepping for at least a dry day.

We will be mainly outdoors as we have booked the Tipi for the day. There are some shady areas outside, and the tent is a good temperature.

Where should I park?

Outside, preferably

There is parking on site and yes, it is free

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes, and we will have a golf cart available for anyone needing assistance getting around the venue (literally!!)

What should I wear?

...clothing.

We'd say formal/smart casual. The golf club definitely don't like jeans or trainers ...

Just in case you need some guidance (and are planning on playing some golf), please find below the link to their "golfing dress code"

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

It's ultimately smart casual. So wear your nice weddingy shoes. However, ladies in particular, if you want to bring a second pair for dancing in later on (i.e flats), there will be storage available for you on the day for your other pair. It will be a long day! You have been warned! (more details on this below)

Also, if you're thinking heels, you might want to be cautious here too - stilettos and soil want to be really best friends, so unless you want to risk losing your shoes to the earth, I'd wear something sensible anyway! :p

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

We have no issues with people taking photos during the day and will not be angry if the moment compels you. Dan is of course an Instagram Influencer by trade and we don't want loads of people constantly getting their phones out and taking loads of shots for "the Gram" during the ceremony; we can't possibly catch anything but his good side!

We wouldn't want you missing those big moments because you were busy staring at your screens anyway so of course you will all be able to see the professional photos Ben takes afterwards.

Remember, when we sign the official register, you MAY NOT take photos of this. This is a legal requirement because it has to be a secret what we've written...

Whom should I call with questions?

Feel free to send your queries to any one of the lovely Wedding Committee Team, "The Bridal Bashers". If they don't know the answer, they'll only come and ask the Bride/"Head Admin" anyway

Is there Wi-Fi at the venue?

Are we seriously that boring to you that you would need WiFi? 😂😂

I think signal is generally pretty good there anyway. I'm on 3 and I got good signal

Can we decorate your “Just Married” getaway car?

If you're willing to pay for the corvette outright for us, be our guest

I've received a luggage tag; what is it for?

We will supply a small shoe storage area for the night for the ladies if you would like to bring a spare pair of shoes for dancing in. Heels can get very tiring, so you can use the luggage tag to mark your shoes in waiting when not in use.

Please be advised, we, the bride and groom, will not be held accountable for any lost or damaged shoes. Please also ensure if you use this service that you remember to pick your shoes up before you leave.

Will I need money?

There will be a small-ish tab behind the bar but you may wish to bring your own money (just in case it runs out which I imagine is a guarantee)

We, the Bride and Groom, will be accepting Freddos as a form of currency, however, we cannot guarantee these will will work at the bar

Can we take any of your decorations home with us?

Please could you not take any items from the wedding away with you. As creative as we are, we have rented these items to save on costs and we will find out if someone has nabbed anything.

Kind of goes without saying and we wouldn't imagine any of you would do this, but we have to be clear on this one :)

We would very much like our deposit back so if you could please honour this, we will be extremely grateful. If any items are broken however, we will not be angry as accidents happen.

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

There are a number of pretty decent hotels in the Farnham/Alton area if you are staying overnight (before or after). We recommend booking in advance just in case to avoid disappointment.

The venue is a 15 minute drive from Alton so if you plan to drink alcohol, we recommend organising a taxi to take you to and from the venue at an allotted time of your choosing. Please see the Event Schedule if you need to work out what time to arrive/depart.

If you are driving to the venue yourself, please be advised parking is free at the venue and we have been advised there will be plenty of space (as mentioned above)

Will food be served?

Yes. Menus have now been emailed out to those of you who have advised you will be attending. If your menu has not arrived, or you're having issues, please let us know and we will do our best to sort this out. Deadline for return forms is 31st March. We will be strict about this so make sure you get them in, else, you may not be fed on the day and that would be a disaster!

My invite has a blank oval inside - what does this mean?

We thought it would be nice if you had the chance to keep a momento of our special day.

If you remember to bring your passport to the wedding, you can stamp your passport (like the good old days) to mark you were there ^_^

What time should I arrive?

I would aim to arrive around 10:30am. The ceremony will be starting at 11:00 sharp so grab your seats early!

Does your wedding have a theme?

The colour scheme is Cadbury purple and silver, the theme is pretty obvious - travel (specifically air travel)
