Story

I was on the Boston Express on my way back from a trip to Maysville, KY for work, swiping through tinder. Boston always had a better selection of matches, and I was excited to take advantage of it during my short hour in Boston. I came across Justin's profile which had a photo with a blurry picture of him and the only information given was "Justin, 29 Brewing Director at Aeronaut Brewing Co.. Clemson University". That was enough. It broke every rule I had for myself for selecting dating profiles, but I still swiped right.

Two days later Justin got around to swiping right on me. I started a conversation up soon after, excited to at minimum maybe get a cool tour of the brewery out of the endeavour! "I've been meaning to visit Aeronaut for some time." was my witty one liner. "Oh really? You should check it out. It's a pretty wild place." was his response 40 minutes later. Our conversation flowed pretty smoothly for the rest of that lazy Sunday, and into the following week. We never ran out of things to talk about, and we seemed to connect right away. We agreed to meet the following Sunday night.

November 29th, 2015 we met at Fuse Bistro in Lowell, MA at 6:30pm. I was running a little late, because I had been homebrewing with Emily Vannozzi and Jared Dickinson, and was excited to be making a wort chiller. Justin was all too excited that he had found a girl that homebrewed, that he didn't mind that I was running a bit late. When I arrived, he was waiting outside leaning up against a brickwall outside the restaurant. Being the Sunday after Thanksgiving Lowell was decked out in Christmas decorations, and it was just a perfect night.

"Kristen?" was the first thing out of his mouth when I approached. *facepalm*

It obviously didn't bother me that much; look where we are now! But we still both joke about it.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

K: You just read my take on our story! But here's Justin's..

J: We technically met "online" if you're willing to stretch it out that far. We were both in the same spot in our life. We wanted to be dating and meeting people but with the slight ulterior motive of, you know...finding a soulmate. So naturally we both took to tinder. There are loads of people on tinder and I had actually set my filter to show only people who lived less than 20 miles away or so. I had just started a new job in Somerville and wasn't looking for a long distance relationship at the time. It just so happened that Kaitlyn was traveling through the city and was swiping through all the boston boys at the same time. One of those lucky few who made the "right-swipe" category happened to be yours truly! So, her profile came up in my feed and I immediately swiped right: we were a match! We started talking and connected right away. It was only when I realized that I wanted to meet her that I looked on her profile and saw she lived in Manchester NH! So, my whole no "long distance" relationships thing was out. We had our first date in Lowell at a place called Fuse Bistro. I was leaning up against the building as she walked up trying to look cool x 10. I was actually completely nervous and was saying her name over and over again in my head to make sure I got it right. Naturally, the first thing I say is "hi, Kristen?" She was swooned instantly.

How did you propose

K: On Monday September 18th, 2017 one of my good friends, Emily (now bridesmaids), convinced me she needed "help" taking photos on a bridge in Manchester. Uhh, ok whatever Emily, we can do that before trivia.

J: I surprised her on the Hands Across the Merrimack walking bridge in Manchester NH. Her friend Emily lured her out onto the bridge with the excuse that she wanted to practice some photography.

K: We are randomly taking photos on the bridge, when I notice Justin walking up on the bridge, and I'm like "OMG, I can't believe you decided to walk Oscar on the same bridge we're taking photos on". Then I noticed he was dressed up, "Babe, why are you dressed up?" He replied something about a work meeting, and I'm like oh ok. Then I look down, "Babe, why is Oscar wearing a Bow Tie?" That's the moment I realized what was happening.

J: Meanwhile Oscar and I, both in ties, approached from the other side of the bridge and met them in the middle. When she saw us she said, " I can't believe you guys are here walking on the same random bridge in Manchester as we are...Why are you wearing a tie?...Wait, why is Oscar wearing a tie?" It was then that she knew what was happening. She said yes obvi.

K: Afterwards we headed off to trivia, but Justin parked in the total wrong part of town. (Which I so nicely pointed out to him) He said he wanted to tell one of his friends that was at strange brew, before trivia. I was a bit suspicious, but he quickly crushed those doubts by pointing out he's bad at lying, and I thought he could surprise me once, but twice, yeah right.

J: We went off to what she thought was going to be trivia with her father. Instead I tricked her into going into Strange Brew to "meet with a friend and tell him the good news" where all of our families and her closest friends were waiting to congratulate her. She was speechless and didn't realize what had happened until 5 am the next morning where she woke me up and made me take her to breakfast.

#BestSurpriseEver

Who made the first move? How?

K: I did. Pretty sure he was going to shake my hand instead of kiss me goodnight..

J: She did. I was nervous and stalling at the end of our first date. I was saying slowly "I had a really nice time" trying to work up the courage to go in for a kiss. She saw me stalling and grabbed me by the jacket and pulled me in for my last first kiss.

Who's going to take out the trash?

J: We both will! But mostly me. Know your role!

K: Agreed.

What was your most memorable date?

K: We had so many great dates (and still are!) but I think the one that stands out in my mind the most is the time I looked up a Christmas Tree raffle charity event that was happening in Methuen. I was literally just looking for an event that was happening between Justin and I's houses, and that one came up. The moment that stands out about that night is that Justin didn't recognize any of the Dr. Who trees. I've since fixed that problem :-)

J: Our most memorable date was to the Christmas village at Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth NH. It was really early on in our relationship. I don't think we were even facebook official yet. But I remember just laughing the entire time while we walked through this perfect christmas town. I always think back to that date. I knew I loved her after that date.

What's your favorite activity together?

J: I know my favorite activity together is actually our favorite activity together! Going to breweries! Hands down. We have been to over 150 breweries all over the country and I can say without a doubt it is our go to thing-to-do on a free weekend.

K: I was having a really hard time answering this question, because we have so many things we love to do together, but after reading Justin's answer, I 100% agreed. He nailed it! Maybe also eating tacos together :-)

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We have a three part honeymoon planned! We're going to Disney, to drink around the "world" and go on an "African" safari, while wearing just married Mickey and Minnie ears the entire time! Then we're off to Universal to enjoy Harry Potter world; Justin has never been! And then we're going to finish with 10 days relaxing on the beaches of Jamaica!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

J: It's hard to remember the best meal we've eaten together. I do remember the forty-something tacos we ate together in Austin Texas on a long weekend. It that were one meal, it would hands down be my favorite.

K: I was going to say the same thing! Tacos in Texas is definitely been our most foodie trip / vacation!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

K: They've all been so much fun! Our first vacation that is probably the most memorable, because we were still feeling each other out and deciding who we were as a couple. It really defined us, and set us up for all the awesome trips to come!

J: I don't want to rub our awesomeness in peoples faces but we have taken a lot of trips together. I think that the most memorable trip that we've taken together was a very quick road trip we took circling Las Vegas, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon and back to Vegas. Though it was a short trip we covered so much ground and saw so many different climates and terrains that we made memories enough for a pretty lengthy photo album.

K: We have a pretty lengthy photo album of all our trips! We're going to have them at the wedding, so definitely check them out!

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our FAQ first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by August 9th using the RSVP card that came in the mail or via our RSVP section at the top of this website.

Are kids welcome?

Absolutely! Please let us know if we did not include your children on your RSVP, we want to get a proper head count of the children!

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m on September 2nd. We kindly ask guests to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to grab a glass of bubbly and start mingling.

Where should I park?

After getting off 93 at exit 17, the Winthrop Carter House will be on your left 3.5 miles down US-4 W. Park in the parking lot directly after the house.

What should I wear?

We hope our wedding will be a fun excuse to wear your favorite cocktail attire! Tip: Labor day weekend in New England is known to have quite the range of temperatures and weather conditions, check the forecast and plan accordingly!

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

We're getting married outside, so the grass might not be friendly for stilettos and other high heeled shoes. We also plan to dance the night away, so if you do choose heels, we recommend a back up pair of dancing shoes! (Sparkly shoes encouraged)

Will food be served?

Yes! We're very excited about the buffet we have picked out for everyone. We love the idea of the buffet because it allows everyone to get just what they're feeling in the moment, or possibly try a little bit of everything!

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Please e-mail Kaitlyn at kburl88@gmail.com to let us know! We want you to be safe and comfortable!

Will there be dancing?

Uhh, duh, this isn't footloose! We're excited to be hosting Boston's Erin Og Irish folk band, to dance our booties off all night long! (well until 10pm)

Will there be any activities happening that I need to know about?

Absolutely! Check our the schedule section of our website!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

We want you to be able to really enjoy our ceremony, feeling truly present and in the moment with us. We've hired an amazing wedding photographer named Julie K. Gray who will be capturing the way the ceremony looks — and we're inviting each of you to sit back, relax, and just enjoy how the ceremony feels. We're respectfully asking that everyone consider leaving all cameras and cell phones off during the ceremony. Of course we will happily share our photos with you afterward! And feel free to take plenty of photos of the dancing that will ensue!

Is there WIFI at the venue?

Yes! If you need WIFI, please speak to either Thomas Baril (bro'smaid) or Kevin Thayer (groomsman) the day of the wedding to ask for the network name & password. Please note that cell service at the venue is shoddy at best.

Is this a dog friendly wedding?

Yes! We welcome friendly, well behaved, socialized pups to be part of our day. We do require all dogs to be leashed at all times (venue policies). We just ask that you be prepared with a back-up plan, just in case your fur child isn’t cooperating.

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

Please see the Travel section of our website. We have a number of different options for you: a swanky 4-star hotel, a motel across the street, camping on site, or a number of other in between options.

Is there a gifts registry?

Yes, scroll all way to the bottom of this site for a link to our consolidated registry.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

Justin will be keeping his name. Kaitlyn will be changing hers.

I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?

Feel free to email Kaitlyn or Justin up until about a week before the wedding, Kaitlyn at kburl88@gmail.com or Justin at justincpino@gmail.com. If you come up with a question much closer to the event, please email the maid of honor alissa.burgess@gmail.com. (Please don't be offended if you get a sarcastic answer).
