Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our FAQ first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

1st Feb 17

What time should I arrive?

On advice of the Registrar, we've been told that everyone *must* be seated by 2:45pm, at the very latest, so a good time for you to aim to be parked would be 2:30 PM.

Where should I park?

There is plenty of FREE onsite parking at the venue (yippee) however please be aware that there is a fairly narrow gravel road to the car park. The venue is tucked away but it isn't far outside the town centre. You can leave your car there until midday on Thursday.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes, and we're having both our ceremony and reception at the same location, so no extra travel required :)

What should I wear?

Whatever is comfortable for you; shorts, dresses, skirts, suits or jeans, what matters is that we have you there, not what you wear.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

The gardens have a number of gravel paths, however there are grassy areas where we'll be able to gather, which could get muddy.

Whom should I call with questions?

sianandrob@outlook.com is your best bet, or catch either of us on our mobiles :)

Will food be served?

Absolutely, and it will be a relaxed, Street Food style event with no seating plan. Check out 'The Mango Hub' and 'The Beefer' if you want to snoop at the food!

We love (LOVE) our food, and we are excited to have two of the nicest (and tastiest) vendors to feed you. They will provide vegetarian and gluten free options, too, just let us know any specific dietary requirements in your RSVP.

What time will the reception end?

As the venue is a family home, too, we need to be off site by 12:00 midnight, so things will wrap up at 11:30 PM to allow for everyone to make their way back to their hotels.

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

We've put together a list of Taxi and Hotel options on the 'Travel and Accommodation' section, but it's not exhaustive, there are likely to be more out there to consider. There are a number of local camp sites, too for those braver than us.

It's strongly advised to book early, despite it being a Wednesday, because it's just after the bank holiday, in half term, and during the Bath and West show.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors, but we will be in the Marquee for the reception.

Apart from my RSVP, is there anything else that you need or want me to do?

The RSVP is the most critical, it covers off dietary requirements and gives some detail about those who want to partake in our wedding 'Bake Off' - there is a prize, too!

'Bake Off'!!!
In place of a traditional wedding cake (and frankly, being averse to the cost and stress of getting it there) we're doing a Bake Off style 'cake' table. It wouldn't be our wedding without a plethora of cakes and sweet things.
If you have opted in, the only criteria is that the sweet treat must be something you've baked at home; biscuits, a cake, cupcakes, traybake, pie; anything sweet and it most certainly doesn't need to complicated (particularly considering transport logistics!)

Is there a cash point at the venue?

No, the nearest would be in town - definitely not an easy walk! There will be a bar, but it will be cash only.

Are children and partners welcome?

Our aim is for everyone to enjoy our day with us, to get the chance to speak to us (more than once!) to feel relaxed and to have fun, as part of the intimate wedding we intend it to be. To give that the best chance of happening, we are inviting only our closest friends and family.

Whilst we haven't planned children's entertainment, your children certainly are welcome, and they will be (or should have been) added to your invite. FYI the venue is a working Mill, so there are some hazardous areas, if you have strong swimmers, you should be fine :)

In the spirit of only inviting people we know, we do ask that only those named on the invite accompany you to the wedding.

Are there any colours that we should avoid wearing?

With the gardens being so beautiful, and as we're not following much tradition here, we've not chosen a theme. Generally, things will be bright and colourful, there isn't any colour to avoid, the more colourful we are as a collective the better!

Gifts

Chances are that you'll have travelled a real distance to attend a mid-week wedding and have paid to stay over somewhere. This all costs money. Our priority is a no-pressure, relaxed and fun celebration with our favourite people; you've already given a gift by accepting our invite! We have the greatest gift of each other, your company, and a wonderful life - nothing can out-do that. That said, we know how annoying it can be when people say 'we don't want anything' when some may really want to give a gift, so we have an Amazon Wishlist for those last few things we'd love for our home, and a Paypal account for those who want to help us to go on Honeymoon.
