Story
The first time I officially met Tendi was at a church auditorium during a music rehearsal. She was belting out those notes like there was no tomorrow. A mutual friend introduced us and that was it, fell in love and here we are lol :). One thing I remember about our first meet was her HUGE SMILE which I tease her about to date. She was clearly excited to see me LOL, guess I only caught on later... (you really didn't expect a long story from me)
My babes will give you the PHD version which I love hearing over and over and over and over again... Did I say over and over? Over to you babes. #BlessedGroom
Tendi :
I really do believe our meet up was divine intervention.
I met Bheki at church back in 2013 or so – focus on "I" only, not “we met” because I viewed him from afar in a crowd while he led worship at church and thought, “hmm this one is special”.
Fast forward to 2017 and after a lot of church hopping something led me back to the church of the first encounter from afar. I finally took my mother’s advice to join the church worship team. “Tendi, you will probably meet your husband while singing, join a church choir” my mother always used to say, and boy was she right – prophetic words rang so true.
Bheki had left the worship team by the time I joined but would still come to some of the rehearsals and we finally formally met. A number of hellos and then finally an exchange of numbers at a church function about a year later.
Our first date lasted about 14 hours – we couldn’t stop talking. As corny as this sounds, he had me at hello.
Bonus story: I met my children Jaden and Zoe in Zimbabwe in August 2019. I remember pretty much every moment, most special being that they did not hesitate to run towards me and give me a big hug when we picked them up from nursery school. I am so thankful how warm and accepting they have been of me since day one.

Tidbits
How did you first meet?
See Our Story!
Who made the first move? How?
Ours is a bit of a long story. We both made our move on our first date. What was meant to be 2 hours of nervous chatter turned into a 14 hour hang ( no kidding ) Yes we had each other at hello...
Who's going to take out the trash?
I am scared of the dark and have seen a leopard or two by the bin area, so Bheki would be cruel to send me out only to be eaten... just saying :)
Who will do the dishes?
Well, the thing is, I (Bheki) have started getting an allergic reaction when I come in contact with tap water. Washing dishes with bottled water is also proving to be expensive so for both my health and preserving the wallet we all know what time it is.... I will still continue to do the dishes COZ THATS WHAT REAL MEN DO! Lol
What was your most memorable date?
We took a day trip to Durban, walked on the beach, had lunch at Doppio Zero and drove back. I must say that was some 'cat fishing on steroids' on Tendi's part considering she loves her indoors, adores her first love 'the hot water bottle' and hates road trips (especially unplanned ones), yet on this day she out did herself, rose to the occasion to trap a naive dude.
What's your favorite activity together?
We love ourselves some chill time on the couch with Netflix and popcorn on the menu :) Very simple people...
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We will certainly explore more of this beautiful land, South Africa... wine lands, beach things. You never know though, covid restrictions may ease and allow us to be great... (the excuse we'll give :)
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
Cape Town Surf Shack prawns by Camps bay... the best ever... like ever!
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
Memorable in a good or bad way? Capetown wine lands was the best! Driving from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg and being on the road for 32 hours, now that was ridiculous. Saw each other's true colours and here we are still together... *singing... 'I see your true colours, that's why I love you' :)
We’re on the same page about
Eggs, 'The Rock' (fav' restaurant), Exercise (running), Our Faith in God, Family and building a home in our hearts for all those in our lives.
The most spontaneous thing we’ve done
Did a one day round trip, Joburg to Durban, you already know that...
A social cause we care about
We don't have a set cause however it always breaks our heart seeing the destitute on our streets begging for the next meal. Occasionally we support 'Elroi' a home for abondoned babies. They are located in Lanseria (few kms from the airport)
We are regulars at
The Rock Diner by Design Quarter in Fourways. Beautiful understated joint.
How did you propose
Simple old fashioned and private photo shoot just in case she said no... ha ha:). Planned a photoshoot over a 3 week period with one of my photographer colleagues so she would not suspect a thing since I occasionally do photography things. Got matching outfits, went to an open veld, went down on one knee and when she gave me the eye my second knee gave in and I begged... and needless to say she said.... and made me the happiest man alive. Love you babes.
What does the future look like?
Beautiful in all different seasons. We'll love each other, raise our family and make sure to touch and change lives along the way, change the world one person at a time... I know this may sound ambiguous and maybe pie in the sky, however isn't that what life is all about, touching, changing lives :)
