Story

Thanks to mutual taps of a heart icon on Match the week before, I excitedly hopped out of my car and shuffled through the rain into a lively Phoenix restaurant for a first date over breakfast with Travis. Three hours later, before leaving the parking lot of the restaurant, I sent the following text to one of my closest friends: “I’m going to marry him.” I'm not saying I'm always right, but six months later at that same restaurant, Travis popped the question for the honor to be partners for a lifetime. Don't be fooled, those six months threw a flurry of challenging events our way, including the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet through each hurdle, we’ve jumped as a team. With each moment of joy, we’ve laughed as best friends. For anything that comes our way, we're each other's everything. We're so excited to embark on our next chapter and couldn't imagine taking that leap without you by our side to celebrate!

Travel

Plane

Getting In

We recommend flying into the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Note

Marshville is a rural, small town (population of 2,800!) located about 45 minutes outside of Charlotte.

It's important to note that the remote location of our celebration will play a vital role in your travel plans. We've established multiple options to help plan your Marshville adventure! As a reference for the area, the nearest two larger towns from Marshville are Monroe, NC (15 minutes west of Marshville) and Matthews, NC (25 minutes northwest of Marshville). While we suggest making your accommodations in Monroe, you're more than welcome to stay in Charlotte and enjoy all the sights the city has to offer!

Car

Getting to Marshville

For all guests, we've established a complimentary shuttle (picking up and dropping off at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Monroe) for a ride to and from our celebrations on both Friday and Saturday. Check out the "Schedule" section of our website for shuttle information. For those from out-of-town, we suggest a rental car for your transportation from the airport and around Marshville (or to explore nearby Charlotte!). There are several rental car options available from the Charlotte airport (see the "Travel" page on our site to access more information on rental car options). It's worth noting that because of Marshville's rural location, Uber or Lyft services in and out of Marshville aren't options to depend on. However, the services are available in Monroe and Matthews.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

What is the venue of the ceremony and reception?

We're incredibly proud to hold our special day at the home of Travis' parents, Robert and Vicki. In fact, their home is even featured on our wedding invitations! The property, fondly known as "The Farm," or more formally, "Howell and Sons Farm," spreads nearly 500 acres and has been in the Howell family since 1798. A location filled with generations of memories, Travis spent a great deal of his childhood camping and exploring the then vacant property during family getaways from his hometown of Marion, South Carolina. Following their retirements, Robert and Vicki spent years building the home of their dreams on the land, which has transpired into the wedding venue of our dreams. It seems only fitting for such a heartfelt place to be the location where two families merge and we can't wait to share it with you. The address and a map of The Farm can be found in the "Schedule" section of our website.

Can I bring a date?

Please check the names of those addressed on the envelopes of your save the date and invitations, including whether "and guest" is written, for information on who is invited to join the celebration.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony and social hour is outdoors, but our reception is hosted in a tent.

What will the weather be like?

Welcome to September in North Carolina! During the day, the weather in Marshville and its surrounding areas should be beautiful in the mid-80s, but will get chilly at night in the low-60s. Please bring some warm layers for the evening, we don't want anyone freezing their bu...well you get the point ; )

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Calling all ladies! Do not wear stiletto heels. I repeat, do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy/dirt areas that you might have to walk in so wear chunky heels, flats or sandals. Can't have any of you ruining nice shoes or breaking any ankles.

Will transportation be provided for both out-of-town and local guests?

Are kids welcome?

As much as we love your little ones, we have opted to host a small, intimate ceremony of around 50 attendees. To ensure our nearest and dearest (you!) can be a part of our special day, with the exception of the children of the wedding party, we have limited the celebration to adults only.

Will alcohol be served?

Due to the remote location of the ceremony and reception venue (including unlit, winding roads) and for the safety of our beloved friends and family attending our special day, we will be hosting a dry wedding. Don't fret! We have some things up our sleeves to ensure you have a great time!

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony starts at 5:30 pm but we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes early to venture your ride through the driveway (it's long enough to worth mentioning - a mile to be exact!) and make your way to the ceremony site located behind the main house. The groom is rather punctual. The bride... she's working on it!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Kindly RSVP by August 7, 2021 : )
