Story
We met in Santa Barbara, California where both of us studied at UCSB. When we went to our first date at a local restaurant, Los Agaves, Chad just came from the beach volleyball court and looked like a red-lobster from his sunburn. Despite his temporary sunburnt look, Tsatsa was attracted to Chad's interesting background and decided to go on a second date. We went on a beautiful hike and fell in love with each other. A year later, Tsatsa got her dream job in Lake Jackson, Texas, and Chad followed his love to the land of cowboys & cowgirls. Since then, we are happily settled down in Texas, and can't wait to celebrate our wedding day with y'all here!
Tidbits
How did you first meet?
We matched on Hinge, "An app that is designed to be deleted" 😅. I think we both deleted the app, actually let me check...
What was your most memorable date?
We went on a matching Pajama date at a fancy sushi restaurant. Walking down the streets of Santa Barbara downtown in our pajamas while everyone else was nicely dressed was super fun & memorable.
What's your favorite activity together?
Being active and traveling to fun places.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
Maybe Mongolia, not decided yet...
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
Chad's home-made fried chicken & Tsatsa's puntuuztei huurga (a Mongolian dish that Chad loves!)
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
A sibling trip to Puerto Rico with Baaduu, Borko, & Alexis. We rode horses on the black sand beach, jumped off the cliffs in the jungle, and snorkled in the crystal clear Caribbean waters.
We’re on the same page about
The most important thing in life is friends & family.
A life goal of ours
Teaching at a local college in a small town after we retire, and own a little farm in Colorado.
The most spontaneous thing we’ve done
Got married. We decided to get married before going to bed, and went to the local courthouse the next morning (Jan 5, 2024) with Chad's mom, Linda, during her Christmas visit.
The dorkiest thing about us is
We are both huge science nerds, so much so that we spent more than 5 years of our lives to get PhDs in science & engineering.
We are regulars at
CrossFit Rosharon, snatching and squatting everyday!
We like to brag about
We are probably the only West Virginia-Mongolia couple in the world!
Accommodations
We reserved a room block to help guests with finding a place to stay! If you have any questions about booking, feel free to email travelconcierge@withjoy.com.

Getting In
We recommend flying into Houston IAH (George Bush International Airport)
There is also Hobby (HOU) in Houston that is a smaller airport, and a bit farther from the venue
Getting to the Lake (Uber/Lyft)
The easiest way to get to the hotel is to Uber/Lyft directly to Margaritaville. It will cost ~$65 each way.
Margaritaville Lake Resort
We hope that everyone can join us at Margaritaville. The resort is family-friendly and has everything you could ever want for a fun-filled weekend: pools, lake activities, bars, good food, and breathtaking views. We have a large block of rooms here, please book using the below link, or ask them for "Battsengel and Spensky Wedding Room Block"
AirBnb
For those of you that want a larger accomodation, there are many affordable houses for rent on the lake that are near Margaritaville and the wedding venue.
