Our story
We met at a BBQ at the infamous “Emerald House” in Whistler (a big house that Freddy shared with seven other guys). A friendly chat over the BBQ turned into a long evening of conversation and plans to hike Joffre Lakes the next day with our friends Megan, Marcio and Paula.
After several months of hanging out, one night Freddy confidently introduced me to some new friends as his girlfriend. That's how I found out we were "official".
As our relationship continued, our love for each other grew and it became evident that we might have finally found the person we would share our life with.
We weathered some storms along the way - family illness, extended periods apart, a global pandemic, a fairly serious knee injury (thanks to some dirt bike shenanigans) and the loss of our beloved little hamster Barnaby - but through it all we learned more about each other, grew closer to one another and loved each other more deeply.
In late 2022, we made the difficult decision to uproot our lives in Canada and give Australia a crack. A couple of weeks later, Freddy (finally) proposed and we began planning our new life together in Perth. Another extended period apart and some pretty big life changes and here we are.
We have been so blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing group of family and friends along the way and we are so excited for you to join us in celebrating our commitment to one another (in whatever capacity you are able to).
Vinka and Freddy xx

Travel
Perth is popular destination in the summer time. Please make your arrangements as soon as possible for the best rates and availability.
Flying internationally
Flying from Canada? Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Air Canada and Air New Zealand offer the most direct (and fastest) routes from Toronto and Vancouver to Perth. We recommend booking at least two months out to ensure you can get your preferred dates.
Flying in
Perth Airport is a little complicated! Terminals 1 and 2 are located in one precinct and Terminals 3 and 4 are in another precinct separated by a 10 minute drive.
All international and domestic flights (except for those operated by Qantas and Jetstar) land at T1/T2. Qantas and Jetstar international and domestic flights land at T3/T4.
There is a complimentary shuttle that runs between the two terminals every 20-30 minutes. For more information about terminals and the free shuttle. visit the Perth Airport Website.
Wonil Hotel Perth
The Wonil Hotel Perth is right down the foreshore from Bayside Kitchen (less than a 10 minute walk). It's a beautiful waterfront location with rooms starting at $274AUD.
Airbnb
Airbnb have a variety of accomodation options close to Matilda Bay (Hackett Drive, Crawley). Use the link above or just search for "Crawley" to find options.
Hotels
There are various hotels available within the vicinity of Matilda Bay (Hackett Drive, Crawley). Use the map function on Booking.com to search for your perfect stay!
If you will have access to a car and enjoy the beach, we recommend searching for accomodation in Cottesloe (a 10 minute drive from the venue).
If you are looking for a budget option within walking distance, there are a couple of smaller hotels/motels close to Hackett Drive, popular as short-term accomodation for University of Western Australia students (UWA is opposite our venue).
Rental cars
Bayswater Car Rental are very good value for money and usually the most affordable in WA. There's a Bayswater Car Rental located in Kewdale (5 minutes from Perth Airport T2/T2). They offer a shuttle service from the airport that runs every 20 minutes for a $5 fee.
Public transport
Transperth have an extensive train and bus network throughout the Perth metro area. There is a train station at Perth Airport T1/T2 and another one a short bus ride from T3/T4 that will take you directly to Perth city in approximately 18 minutes. From there, you have a myriad of options to get you to where you want to go! For information on tickets, maps and timetables, visit the Transperth website.
Transperth also offer free Central Area Transit (CAT) buses that operate throughout the inner city areas. The Purple CAT runs from Elizabeth Quay bus station to Matilda Bay. The Blue, Red, Green and Yellow CAT busses operate around the Perth CBD.
