Story
Nimisha's side of the story:
Although Bill and I were in the same psychiatry residency program a year apart, he was one of the few interns that I didn't know too well. When I found out that I would be spending my two month VA rotation with him starting in May 2016, I was apprehensive because he seemed reserved and quiet, and I am neither of those things! Within a few days of working with him, however, I realized how well we complimented one another, and how his dark sense of humor made me laugh. The only bright part of working at the VA was knowing that he would be there to keep me company. When our VA rotation ended, we didn't really see or talk to each other much until January 2017, when Bill began texting me more, and I was pretty sure he was flirting. Finally, in late February, I texted Bill telling him that I was giving up caffeine for Lent and I would be sad to not drink Coke. Bill thoughtfully brought over cases of caffeine free Coke to my apartment one day , and we hung out for hours just chatting and laughing. He asked me for a first date a few days later; I asked him to wait for TWO HOURS while I finished my workout, before telling him that I would go out with him. And the rest is history <3
Bill's side of the story:
Although I had known Nimisha since the start of our psychiatry residency, we first became friends while working together a year into my program. We quickly bonded over a similar sense of humor, and her fun positive spirit often made my day. It wasn’t until another year later when we started to connect more and realize that there may be something more than just friendship. I had always noticed her beauty inside and out; however it wasn’t until we connected over a several hour conversation one night that I started to experience stronger feelings for her and to think she might feel the same way too. The evening started with me bringing over a case of caffeine free coke to help get her through her Lenten sacrifice of caffeine. After that night, I knew I wanted to ask her out on a proper date. A week later, I was at her front door with a limo waiting to take us to dinner, and ever since, my love for her continues to grow each day.
The Proposal:
I had guessed that Bill was going to propose to me sometime soon. Back in February 2018, he mentioned that he had gone shopping with a close friend for a gift for me. I assumed it was for our one year anniversary gift, but then for our one-year he gave me diamond earrings that he said he had bought online, so I immediately knew something was up! I figured he must have gone ring shopping, but we hadn't tried on rings together, so I was dying to know what he had selected. Alas, I would have to wait for a few more months until June.
I had always told Bill that I wanted him to ask for my parents' blessing before he proposed, and I was trying to figure out when and how he was going to do this. The detective that I am, I realized he was going to involve them in the proposal and that he was probably going to do it on the day of my residency graduation because my parents were coming into town. So of course I booked a makeup and hair appointment for graduation day because who wouldn't?!
I am someone who loves surprises; I still get excited on Christmas Day not knowing what my gifts are going to be. So on the Friday before graduation, I jokingly told Bill that he was pretty lousy at surprising me. I didn't think I was going to see him until the following day at Graduation, because I was going to pick up my parents from the airport straight after work on Friday and I was taking them to dinner in Cincinnati. My parents and I arrived at dinner and had a nice meal and I talked about how Bill was probably going to propose tomorrow. But then, to my surprise, it wasn't the waiter who brought out our dessert but Bill! He got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him in front of my parents and the entire restaurant! Of course, I said YES.
As it turns out, Bill was planning on proposing to me on Saturday like I had guessed all along, and he had bought a toy replica of a yellow porsche (my dream car) with a trunk that opened up, so he could put the ring in there and present it to me as my graduation gift. But when I had told him that he was bad at surprises, he saw it as a challenge! He texted my parents asking if he could propose that day instead, and boy did he trick me. It is just one of the many reasons I love him. Did I also mention he got my ring custom made based off of a photo I had sent him a long time ago? Yes, he's a keeper.
Oh and in case you're wondering, I most definitely kept my hair and makeup appointment for the following day and took lots of photos then! Totally worth it <3
With love,
Nimisha
Tidbits
How did you first meet?
See Our Story!
Who made the first move? How?
I would say that I tested out the waters by inviting him to social events with our mutual friends, but he asked me out on our first date with this text: "how would you feel if I asked you out on a proper date?"
Who's going to take out the trash?
Either one of us, when it starts overflowing and gets smelly.
What was your most memorable date?
Our first one. He told me that he would pick me up at my apartment. When I got downstairs, there was a limousine waiting! It took us to Cincinnati where we ate at a Thai restaurant. Afterward, he took me to a cozy bar that he had told me about when we were just friends, and which I had really wanted to go to. It was the perfect first date.
What's your favorite activity together?
We love going mini-golfing. I get super competitive, even though he usually wins.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
There are so many places we want to travel together! Australia/New Zealand or Iceland would be magical.
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
We have eaten lots of delicious meals, it's hard to pick. But our 3 course meal complete with a Pina Colada at New York City's rotating restaurant, The View, was pretty epic.
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
In the Summer of 2017 Bill took me camping for my first time ever, so that we could witness a total solar eclipse.

Can I bring a date?
If you weren't given a plus one on your invitation but still want to bring someone as a date, please let us know via email.
Are kids welcome?
Kids are more than welcome to attend the marriage ceremony at the church, however unless they were specifically invited via invitation (family), they will have to sit the coctail hour/dinner reception out. The exception to this is if your baby is still nursing. This is the parents' time to party and have a date-night! The Four Seasons offers babysitting services; if enough of you need your kids to be watched during the reception, we will try to organize something with them. Please let us know if you require babysitting services ASAP via email.
What time should I arrive?
On time! But seriously, we kindly request that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the marriage ceremony (1:45 pm) at the Church. If you arrive after the processional starts, we can only have you seated afterward. It would also be nice if you got to the cocktail hour on time because otherwise you will be missing out on delicious appetizers! (for real)
What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever you're comfortable in that will allow you to dance! But if you decide to join us for the After Party at Wit and Wisdom, be aware of their dress-code in regards to shoe attire:
No designer sneakers or tennis shoes
No backless sandals or flip flops
What should I wear?
The dress code is Formal! We spared you the hard work of figuring out what this means by letting you know what the internet says:
For the ladies: A long dress, dressy separates, or a formal cocktail dress.
Party Indian wear counts (cholis, saris etc-the bride will be changing into an Indian outfit during the reception)
For the men: A tuxedo or formal suit.
Since there are a few hours between the ceremony and reception, you can change if you want to show off more of your glamorous wardrobe, but feel free to wear the same thing of course!
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
Sometimes the best photos are those captured by the guests! As long as you aren't getting in the way of the professional photographer and your phone is on silent, we would love to see your photos. You can use the hashtag #SendNimtheBill when posting on social media. You can also download the wedding website app and upload your photos there for everyone to see!
I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?
You can email us at: williamandnimisha@gmail.com
