Q & A
For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!
What time should I arrive?
The ceremony is at midday so please arrive between 11am and 11.30am but ideally not later than 11.45am in order to get seated in time :)
For evening guests, please arrive from 6pm :)
What do I do the night before?
We recognise that midday is an early start for the ceremony, given that most people will be travelling quite far to help us celebrate. Please note that there will be no accommodation on-site on Friday (there is another wedding at the venue on the Friday) so you may need to arrange to stay somewhere nearby or en-route to make it work. Just let us know if you would like to talk this through, need some recommendations or would like some help deciding.
Where should I park?
There is plenty of free on-site parking.
Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?
There will be a 16-seater minibus at 12.30pm and another at 1am to take people from the venue to Newport (and, on one of the trips, Nevern). There will also be a minibus to Felingwm via St Clears and Carmarthen at the end of the night. And another to Goodwick. We are organising names for these, based on the travel and accommodation plans people have shared with us, and will confirm on the day. If you wish to travel at any other time, please see the taxi number below (and if you have a seat on one of the minibuses, please let us know if you no longer need it).
We will leave it to you to make your own way to Gellifawr but we can help connect people for car shares, taxis, etc., once we know where people are staying. Just bear in mind that it's an early start, with the ceremony at midday and guests arriving from 11am. Unless you are joining us for the evening party, in which case you have until 6pm to get there!
What are the local taxi services?
The venue has recommended Home James for trips to and from Newport and Gellifawr. Website . Tel 01239 841 258.
Is there accommodation at the venue?
There are rooms at Gellifawr but they're limited in number - we wish there were more! If we've already spoken to you about this then you have a room and please note the following:
- You will not be able to check in until around 4.30pm on the wedding day.
- The rates are £70 per adult (£35 per sofa bed for those we have spoken to about this).
- Some of the rooms are in the main house but most of the rooms are in cottages. We have allocated rooms to maximise use, since the cottages are all configured slightly differently.
- This will all be sorted directly between you and Gellifawr on the day - they will have the rooming plan we have submitted.
As mentioned above, we will try to hold a small number of rooms in case needed for children - just let us know if you would like to discuss this.
You are most welcome to pitch a tent at Gellifawr or to bring a campervan. The venue charges £30 per tent/campervan and this includes breakfast the next day.
What are the accommodation options outside of the venue?
Newport is the closest town and is a 12min drive from the venue. It is on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and is quite small. Here's a list of hotels and B&Bs in Newport: . Airbnb may also help, although many places are requiring a 7-night minimum stay and accommodation is filling up fast.
There is a Travelodge in St Clears which will get you on the road back to Cardiff/London easily the next day, or to Carmarthen if you are joining us for the post-wedding lunch (please do!). Here's the link: www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/98/St-Clears-Carmarthen-hotel.
There are lots of options in Fishguard and in Carmarthen, whether on Airbnb, or booking.com etc. Do give us a call if you would like some recommendations or if you would like to discuss.
Are there any covid-related requirements?
Please take a lateral flow test the evening before and/or the morning of the wedding, for peace of mind of all our guests.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
We're hoping for outdoors but we will decide on the day depending on the weather :)
Is there WIFI at the venue?
Yes - connect to the Gellifawr guest wifi, no password needed. It's a bit slow but should be able to handle whatsapp messages. Phone reception is unreliable.
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
Yes! We would love for you to take photos although perhaps not during the ceremony itself. We would also love it if you could share them here on this app/website.
Is there a gifts registry?
We have everything we need and all we would like is a fun day celebrating with you all. Genuinely, there is no need to send or bring a gift, particularly as we know the venue is pretty remote and takes dedication to get to! If you are very keen to do so (and some of you kind people have been very insistent) then we would with gratitude accept contributions towards our honeymoon.
What are the plans for the next day?
There will be a buffet lunch from 2pm the day after the wedding at Yasmin's mum's house, to which everyone is invited! It will be informal, child-friendly, hopefully outside (with seating and shelter), plenty of food and drink, and may well turn into a bit of a party! But of course, if you are in a rush en route to the M4, feel free to stop by for just a quick bite to eat. Arrive anytime after 1pm.
Where is the lunch the next day?
The house is called Cwmrheiddol and is a 15-min drive from Carmarthen.
GOOGLE SEARCH: A Google search for "Tawelfan Barn" will take you to the exact location (although do not use the Google postcode for Tawelfan Barn for your satnav).
SATNAV: The postcode SA32 7HH will take you to the top of the lane. You will need to turn off the road by the two large silver bins (there will be balloons to show the turning) and follow the lane all the way to the end, about 0.6 miles.
MAP: From Carmarthen, take the A485 (towards Lampeter) and in approx. 5 mins you will pass through the village of PENIEL. On the other side of Peniel, turn right at junction signed HOREB, FELINGWM (if you pass a petrol station on your left you have gone too far). Once you have turned right, keep going along the single lane winding road for 2.2 miles. Turn off the road by the two large silver bins (there will be balloons to show the turning) and follow the lane all the way to the end, about 0.6 miles.
Are kids welcome?
We would have loved to have had children attend but it's tricky to make it work because we are limited in numbers. The headcount restriction applies to the ceremony (around 12-12.45pm) and the wedding breakfast (around 2.15-4.30pm) so they won't be able to join us then. It doesn't apply to newborn babes in arms, so they are welcome the whole day.
If you need to bring your children, we can do our best to reserve you accommodation at the venue, although numbers are limited so we can't promise. The rooms are close to the ceremony and reception areas, so you would be able to go back and forth easily throughout the day. For the times when children cannot join us, you could take turns to stay to look after them, hire a babysitter and/or team up with other parents. They can then join us from 5pm.
Children are very welcome at the next day lunch.
