Story

We don’t really remember the first time we saw each other, and we didn’t have one miraculous moment, but rather a slow knitting together of our hearts. Our families have known each other a decade now, and been friends in different capacities that whole time. We always thought the other was nice to look at, and interesting to be around, but an age difference kept us from the thought of pursuing one another.

Megan, his sister-in-law, my friend and bridesmaid, told me at an event she “called dibs” on me for Zane, and thankfully those dibs somehow worked! We did a year of out-of-state long distance, flying back and forth, plans on hold because of a pandemic, shifting life, learning intentional communication, giving lots of grace. We’ve done many months of shorter, much more manageable in-state long distance, driving tons of miles, learning to love each other more through exhaustion and frustrations, and walking through uncertainty. We are so thankful the Lord has brought us to this point. We are also so excited to share it with people who have poured in to our lives, both as individuals, and as a couple, for a long time.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

Sometime at church in 2011. We were both so young we don’t remember our exact first meeting.

Who made the first move? How?

Hannah texted Zane every day, even when he tried to ghost her, and invited him to everything every time she was in town until he finally wore down and asked her out.

Who's going to take out the trash?

We will share all the responsibilities

What was your most memorable date?

For Hannah: We got to actually be together for our 6 month anniversary, and we did a picnic by a little lake with lots of goodies, and played games and ate for many hours.

For Zane: We went to an aquarium in Phoenix. Hannah is pretty cute when she gets excited about fish. We had a delicious dinner, which is important to us, then went to Frost, our favorite gelato place.

What's your favorite activity together?

Picnics! We bring food and games to the park all the time.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Somewhere secluded, where we can hike and relax and not be around anybody else!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

An amazing Thai place in Portland that our sister-in-law suggested to us.

We’re on the same page about

What's important to us. And one of those things is spending time with the people we love most. (You all!)

A life goal of ours

To travel a lot! We have so many places we want to go and see.

We are having parking at Applegate Community Church and shuttling to the venue.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding will be outdoors.

What should I wear?

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

The ceremony will be in a grassy area, so wear shoes that are comfortable and stable. We don't want any broken ankles!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

We LOVE our photographer, and we know you will too! We ask that you turn off your devices and be in the moment with us and let her do her job. She's amazing at it.
