Event Settings: Language & Currency

Language & Currency is where you control how your site displays for guests around the world; from the language Joy uses for menus and buttons, to the currency guests see when browsing hotels and registry gifts.

From your Event Dashboard, click the gear icon, then select Event Settings. Click Language & Currency in the left panel.

The Default Event Language dropdown sets the language guests see when they first arrive on your site. It also determines the default currency and distance units for your event (for example, USD vs. EUR, or miles vs. kilometers). Joy sets this automatically based on your location at signup, but you can change it at any time.

The Time Format dropdown controls how times appear on your website. Automatic (follows language) matches the format used by your selected event language. You can also choose 12-hour (3:30 PM) or 24-hour (15:30) to override this regardless of language.

Languages your guests can choose lets you build a language menu for your guest site. Select as many languages as you want to offer. You can search by language name using the search bar at the top of the dropdown.

Any language you add here appears as an option in the language switcher, shown as a globe icon in the corner of your live website. Guests can tap it to view Joy's menus and buttons in their preferred language.

Your own content (page text, schedule details, custom messages) stays exactly as you wrote it.

The Registry Currency dropdown sets the display currency for manually added registry gifts and new cash funds. It does not affect existing cash funds or gifts added from the Joy shop. You can also change this in your Registry settings.

If you've connected a bank account, the currency is locked to match your payout account and can't be changed from this dropdown.

The Where to Stay Currency dropdown sets the currency used to display hotel prices on your Where to Stay page. When set, all hotel pricing renders in your chosen currency. If left unset, Joy defaults to a currency based on each guest's location. You can also change this in your Where to Stay settings.
