I Can't See My Site When I Go To My Custom Domain

If you've set up a custom domain and your site isn't showing up, you're in the right place. This is one of the most common things people run into after connecting a domain, and in almost every case it comes down to one of three things. Work through the scenarios below in order and you'll know exactly where things stand.

My domain isn't loading

If you go to your custom domain and get an error page or a blank page, the domain likely hasn't been connected to Joy yet. Purchasing a domain and connecting it are two separate steps, and without the connection, your domain has nowhere to point. The connection process takes about five minutes and involves setting up a forward from your domain provider to your Joy URL.

My domain is showing the wrong page

If your domain is loading withjoy.com or the Joy Find page instead of your event site, the forwarding address is pointed to the wrong place. This usually means the URL was set to withjoy.com instead of your specific Joy URL, or there's a small typo in the address.

  • Find your Joy URL. If you're not sure what it is, see How Do I Find My Event Website Address.

  • Log in to your domain provider.

  • Go to your domain forwarding settings.

  • Update the forwarding address to your exact Joy URL.

  • Click Save.

My domain was set up correctly but the site still isn't showing up

If your domain is connected and the URL looks right but the site still isn't appearing, the change may still be spreading across the internet. This is called DNS propagation, and it typically completes within a few hours but can take up to 48 hours in some cases.

  • Open a private or incognito browser window.

  • Type your custom domain into the address bar and press Enter.

  • If your site loads in the private window but not your regular browser, clear your browser cache and try again.

  • If your site still isn't loading in the private window, reach out using the chat bubble in the bottom right and the support team can check the connection on their end.

Note: If it has been less than 48 hours since you connected your domain, the most reliable next step is to wait and check again.
