Disconnecting Your Custom Domain

When your event is over or you just need a clean reset, disconnecting your custom domain is a quick process. Your Joy website stays exactly where it is; you're simply unlinking the domain so it no longer points there. Here's how to do it.

If you purchased your domain through Joy

  • Log in to your domain account here.

  • Under My Products, click DNS, then click Forwarding.

  • Under "Domain forwarding is set up," click Remove, then click Continue.

Once removed, your custom domain will no longer forward to your Joy website. Your Joy site remains live and accessible at your original Joy URL.

Note: It can take up to 48 hours for the change to fully propagate. If your domain still redirects after that window, contact your domain registrar directly.

If you purchased your domain through a third-party registrar

If you connected a domain you purchased elsewhere, such as Google Domains, Namecheap, or another registrar, you'll need to remove the forwarding rule from within that registrar's dashboard. The exact steps vary by registrar, but the process generally looks like this:

  • Log in to your domain registrar's account.

  • Find the DNS or Forwarding settings for your domain.

  • Locate the forwarding rule pointing to your Joy website URL.

  • Click Delete or Remove to remove that forwarding rule, then save your changes.

If you're not sure where to find these settings, search your registrar's help center for "remove domain forwarding" or contact their support team directly.

Note: After removing the forwarding rule, your custom domain will no longer point to your Joy website. Your Joy site stays live at your original Joy URL.
