Turning Off Auto-Renewal on Your Custom Domain

When you buy a custom domain, it renews automatically every year by default. If you already know you won't need the domain after your event, turning off auto-renewal now means one less thing to remember later. You won't get an unexpected charge on your card twelve months from now for a domain you no longer need.

How to turn off auto-renewal

If you purchased your domain by clicking the link on the Settings Page:

  • Log in to the account where you purchased your domain here.

    • This might be a different login than you have for your Joy website.

  • Select Account Settings, then Renewals and Billing.

  • Click the three dots next to your domain, then select Turn off Auto-renew.

  • Click Cancel Renewal to confirm.

  • To verify the change went through, check the Billing Date column next to your domain. It should now show "Cancels" followed by the date your domain will expire, rather than "Auto Renews."

Note: Your domain will stay active and connected to your event website until that expiration date. Turning off auto-renewal does not remove it immediately.
