Note

July is the high season in Red River. Please make your accommodation arrangements as soon as possible to ensure availability and best pricing.

Red River is a small mountain town located in the Enchanted Circle, which is a beautiful scenic byway in Northern New Mexico. There is A LOT to do in the area and it's a truly wonderful place to incorporate a vacation. Check out our 'things to do' section at the bottom of this page for activity ideas.

Red River is located at 8,671 feet of elevation, so you may or may not experience some altitude sickness. Please check the Q&A page for more details.

Once you are in Red River, everything is relatively walkable, since the town is about a mile long, and the venue is in the middle. There is also a free public shuttle bus that runs through Red River from 7:30am to 5pm.

We have listed the closest airports to Red River and provided some options for accommodations below. Please look through the list of room blocks we've already made before booking something not on the list.

If those fill up or you'd like to find your own accommodation, there is a tool below that helps you search and compare prices for hotels, Airbnbs, and vacation rentals right through our website.

Please keep in mind that there are no taxis/Ubers in Red River, so if you book accommodation that is not within walking distance from the wedding venue, you will need to have a vehicle and a designated driver.

Plane

Flying In

We recommend flying into Albuquerque International Sunport Airport (ABQ) in New Mexico! It's about a 3-hour drive to the town of Red River (173 miles).

Depending on where you're flying from, and your budget, one of the airports below might be more convenient.

San Luis Valley Regional Airport (ALS) in Alamosa, Colorado is about a 1-hour and 40-minute drive (93 miles) and offers daily flights to/from Denver via United Airlines. You can also rent a car through Hertz at this small airport. For more info visit:

If you're coming from California or Texas, you can fly into the Taos Regional Airport in New Mexico. They have flights to/from San Diego and Austin on Thursdays and Sundays and flights to/from Dallas and Los Angeles Mondays and Fridays. The Taos airport is about a 35-minute drive from Red River. You can find more info and book flights on Taos Air here:

Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) is another regional airport, and it's a 2-hour and 20-minute drive (115 miles). They run daily flights through Denver and Dallas. You can find more info here:

Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is the next closest airport and it's a 3-hour 20-minute drive (206 miles).

You can also fly into Denver International Airport (DEN). It's a 4-hour and 45-minute drive (290 miles).

Car

Getting to Red River from the Airport

Renting a car is going to be your most convenient, flexible, and probably affordable option. There are car rental options at (or near) each airport listed above. If you book a car with your flights, you might be able to save on bundle pricing too.

If you're feeling really adventurous, consider renting a camper or RV in whichever city you fly into (or from your home city), which will take care of your transportation to/from and your accommodation in Red River (just be sure to check out the RV Camping section below for campsite booking info). If you are interested in traveling in a camper, we recommend checking out rental options on OR

*CARPOOL/SHUTTLE:
If you'll have extra space in your car, or if you need a ride, please sign up for the carpool/shuttle here:

Depending on how many people want/need a ride and the timing of their flights, we can try to help arrange a private roundtrip shuttle from the Albuquerque Airport to Red River and back. The cost will be split between passengers.

If we don't end up having enough guests to make a "private" wedding shuttle cost effective, there is also a company called Mountain View Shuttle that provides a shuttle service to Red River from Albuquerque/Santa Fe or the Taos airport and roundtrip tickets are currently $300/person (to/from Albuquerque) or $200/person (to/from Taos). You can find more info here:

If you'd like to book your own private car with a driver, you can check prices and availability here:
