Story
Our adventure begins here. By day, a hustling and bustling mid-city intersection; by night, an intimate playground for the heart and soul.
December 11, 2015. I’ll always remember it as if it were yesterday. Driving to your house, I could hardly breathe I was so nervous. This wasn’t a date, but maybe somehow I knew it would be such an important day in our lives. When I got to your house, I didn’t know what to do. Should I wait for you by the door? What if I’m standing there for 15 minutes like an idiot? I decided to stand awkwardly by the car. I was so nervous. What would we talk about? What if I was super boring? This could go south very quickly. I didn’t know if these pictures would come out looking even halfway decent.
Finally, you came out. You looked adorable. My heart was racing. I opened the car door for you and you got in. We started chatting immediately. I don’t even remember what specifically, we talked about everything. I was so relieved.
Our first stop was Elysian Park for a view of downtown. I remember it was freezing. We weren’t there for very long before the police came and to tell us the park was closed for the night. You were shivering so I pulled off my jacket and put it on your shoulders.
Our next stop was the 2nd Street tunnel. The idea in my head was to have you listening to a CD player, lost in your thoughts in the big city. I realized I wasn’t very good at telling you how to look at the camera, but luckily for me, you were amazing. Every snap of the shutter you would pose for a new look. It was magic. I didn’t even do any work for the photos, it was all you, baby. It was through the viewfinder that I fell in love.
As we walked back to the car, you were dancing to the drum and bass CD I had loaded into the player. The crosswalk was illuminated by your beautiful smile, and as we looked at each other, I knew.... I knew it was you.
It wasn’t a date, but who knew it would be the first day of the rest our lives together.
