Story
Mat and Aira’s story begins long before they even realize it. They first met in elementary school, where they were in the same class as part of a Saturday class called MTAP. Back then, they were just kids solving math problems, never imagining that their lives would continue to intertwine in unexpected ways.
Years passed, and in college, Mat started coming over to Aira’s house—not for her, but to play basketball with her nephew, Francis. Aira, however, never really talked to him. Every time Mat was around, she stayed quiet, not giving him much attention. But fate had a funny way of keeping their story alive.
One day, everything changed because of a simple bet. It was Miami vs. Spurs, and Aira was confident her team would win. Mat, on the other hand, had other plans. He won the bet, and as a result, Aira owed him a date. And just like that, their first-ever “date” happened—though at the time, it probably didn’t feel like the beginning of something big.
Life had its own twists and turns, and soon after, Aira had to migrate to Canada. They tried to stay connected, even giving their relationship a chance, but distance and timing weren’t on their side. Eventually, they drifted apart once again.
Then, in May 2019, in the quiet little town of Bansud. Aira needed a ride, and as if fate was orchestrating everything, Mat showed up. It was at that moment—unexpected, unplanned, yet perfectly timed—that their story truly began.
From that day on, they embarked on an incredible journey of love, patience, and resilience. Despite the distance, despite the challenges, they made it work. Six years of long-distance love, spanning across different time zones, countless video calls, airport goodbyes, and reunions made every struggle worth it. They proved that no matter how far apart they were, they would always find their way back to each other.
