Our Story
HIS STORY
During a visit to Bethel in the summer of '17, I was invited to a home in Brooklyn, NY. I took notice of a beautiful, hospitable young lady. She was introduced to me as Angie. She went above and beyond to make us all feel very comfortable. We played cards and dominoes, danced, and had a good time. Months later, she DM'd me (lol), and we chatted more about the last time I visited. We enjoyed our conversation and exchanged numbers, and became good friends over time. That time has led to this moment I am sharing with you. On May 7, 2022, I asked Angela to share this lifelong journey with me. Much to my surprise, she said yes. This story continues on April 1, 2023. Be there to witness more.
HER STORY
I remember it like it was yesterday. In August 2017, A mutual friend of Allen and mine, Mann [groomsmen], called a few friends and me in NY and notified us that a group from Detroit was visiting NYC. To show hospitality, a group of us decided to host a BBQ at the former Brooklyn Mansion. I helped as hostess, and Nye [bridesmaid] helped on the BBQ grill. As the Detroit friends arrived at the Mansion- I greeted everyone. The first person that caught my eye was a brother in ALL WHITE with the biggest smile and straightest teeth- Allen Cannon. I said to myself, “boy is he happy.” I blew it off and introduced myself, and told the friends to make themselves comfortable. As the night progressed, I ended up playing a game of spades and dominoes with the Detroit friends and found myself on the opposing side of Allen. Allen forgot to tell me that he was a dominoes champ and destroyed every hand I played against him. However, he did it with that same huge smile and calmness. The night ended, and I never saw Allen again until he popped up on my IG in December 2018 as someone I may know. I thought to myself, is this the same brother who I enjoyed spades/dominoes with last year? So I “slid in the DM” and said hello. I was on my way to visit a number of friends in Detroit February 2019 with Nye and Ossa [both bridesmaids] and shared that information with him. We kept in contact every day from that conversation and when we met in Detroit, we were inseparable- the rest was history.
