Story
The first time I really noticed Dustin was in English 11, he sat beside me. I remember thinking he was cute and funny. Then in our senior year I started texting him and wanted to know if he'd ever want to hang out together. I got embarrassed about asking and tried to retract. He ended up asking me a few weeks later.
Fast forward four years and on August 20, 2016, Dustin asked me to marry him. Leading up to that day he kept telling me to make sure I didn't plan anything, saying he wanted a day to ourselves before we started our senior year at Drake. He started the day by taking me to lunch, originally he wanted to take me to Alba but it was closed Saturday's at lunch. We ended up going to the Rooftop and had a great time. He then took me to a movie, followed by mini-golf and frozen yogurt. After he dropped me off at home for a while to go to a "meeting." He came back then took me to our favorite restaurant, Centro's, where we shared an entrée. During our meal he asked me what I wanted to to after and I suggested going home and watching a movie, he suggested we go for a walk by the river. I agreed and we drove down and parked on one of the bridges. We walked toward East Village and he took me down toward the amphitheater by the river. That's when he directed me toward the stool in the center and pulled out a box from underneath. I opened the box and inside was a deck of cards. He made me open it and then he proceeded to tell our story using the cards - he had cut out the centers to instead show pictures of us. The last card included a small cutout and held the ring. We both cried and I said yes! Our friends were waiting nearby and ran down to join us. We spent the rest of the night taking pictures and celebrating!
