Story
Julian:
I had just moved to Kansas City and attended a Kappa house party with friends. While at the party, one of my fraternity brothers thought this young lady would be perfect for me. He introduced me to her and we chatted briefly. Then he introduced me to her again, and again, and again. Quickly I realized my friend was inebriated so my interaction with the young lady became more and more awkward.
Weeks later I was invited to another fraternity brother's birthday gathering. At the gathering, was his sister-in-law, the same woman from my previous encounter. This time I was introduced in a proper (sober) manner and we began to chat throughout the event. We ended up partying together later that night at a local club in a continuation of my friend's birthday celebration. After the party, we all went to eat at a diner (classy, I know). When it was time to call it a night, I asked her for her number. Then she began to deliver the strongest curve in recent memory. She told me she DIDN'T KNOW her own cell phone number and didn't have her phone with her to save my number in hers. So she asked for mine instead and wrote it down on her To-Go box. I thought all was lost but surprisingly she called me the next day, and the rest was history.
Jordin:
I had just moved back to Kansas City after transferring from Truman State University to the University of Missouri- Kansas City. I had been praying that God would make me whole and that the next time I fell in love, it would be the last. I didn't go out much, but my sister and brother-in-law dragged me out to celebrate his birthday at a bar (I don't even drink). When I got to the bar there was only one person I didn't know; a guy in pastel purple chinos, loafers and a button up shirt. Clearly, he was overdressed for the occasion, but I just figured he must be a Kappa. I walked over to the bar and introduced myself and we chatted briefly.
The next day I saw him again when the gang got back together to go clubbing. He was in a 3 piece suit with a bowtie and we were literally at the worst club in the city; it had a reputation for getting shot up. Most of the women there had rainbow colored hair, gold teeth, outfits from Rainbow and Jordan heels but here was this man sharp enough to sell me a copy of Muhammed Speaks and a bean pie! He was different and I liked it. I teased him all night about how he should just take of the vest and tie so he wouldn't sweat so much, but he never budged. I on the other had traded in my heels for a pair of Nike slides when the group decided the night wasn't over.
We went to a diner and I somehow ended up sitting next to this handsome stranger. I remember some random guy that I didn't want to speak to coming to our table and I showed my disinterest by cuddling up to Julian and laying my head on his shoulder. Julian caught my not so subtle hint and asked for my phone number before we left. Sadly, I had just changed my number and didn't know it yet; and my phone was dead in the car, so I couldn't even go get it. I told him to write his number on my to go box and assured him I wasn't making up a story. The next evening I called him, I could tell he was shocked! We set up a date for the next week and have been going strong ever since. It wasn't until months later that I realized I had actually met this man before. At Truman State and at a Kappa party in Kansas City. Guess the third time's the charm!
