Story
Shortly after moving to Iowa City, Sam and Courtney met through a mutual friend, Alex Kron. While Courtney and Alex were catching up, she noticed a very tall, handsome guy in a goofy medical school shirt looking across the room. Sam then made his way over and to Courtney’s surprise, Alex and Sam were roommates. As the night drew on, the two hit it off.
Later that week, Courtney was at the library studying and bumped into Sam. Though she thought he was far too busy preparing for exams, he convinced her to come over to his study area and then exchanged numbers. The next day he asked her out to eat at Atlas. The date was going well, but the management felt that service was too slow and insisted on bringing out chocolate cake to apologize for the delay. Over five years later, they went back to the same booth, ordered the same dessert and Sam asked Courtney to marry him.
Tidbits
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
After Sam's first boards exam, we spent two and a half weeks traveling in Europe to London, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam. The highlight of our trip was a dinner boat cruise on the Seine.
How did you first meet?
See Our Story!
What's your favorite activity together?
We love riding our road bikes and taking cycling classes together. Sam has also started to play more golf. Someday if he keeps practicing he may win.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We plan on taking a honeymoon later to somewhere tropical and warm.
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
We love eating :) We had wanted to try a restaurant in Cedar Rapids called Cobble Hill, so Sam made a reservation for Valentine's Day. Little did we know... it was a five-course meal rather than normal menu. We had two desserts. It was a treat!
