Flying to Israel

Over the last few years, many low-cost carriers have launched routes to Israel. This has massively reduced the cost of flights, which now average £100 each way to/from London (if you book early with a low cost carrier!).

Make sure your flight arrives into Ben Gurion International Airport for Tel Aviv (don't fly to Ovda or the new Ramon International Airport unless you are planing to also visit the Negev and south).

EasyJet, WizzAir, British Airways and El Al all operate daily flights to TLV direct from various London airports. From Manchester, EasyJet fly twice a week. Many other connecting flights are also available, so we recommend checking for the best prices.

All flights are out now! EasyJet will more than likely be the cheapest direct option to fly to Tel Aviv next year, but check out what works best for you!

Note

Special Hotel Rate

We will be staying at the Isrotel Royal Beach hotel. Through the wedding planner’s specialist travel agent, we’ve secured a discounted group rate for our wedding guests at the hotel. The rate is fully flexible and refundable, includes a fantastic breakfast, and over $100/night less than usual.

The rate is limited to a set number of rooms, so if you’d be interested in reserving rooms at the Royal Beach using our discounted rate, or would like to speak to the planner’s agent about any other hotel recommendations, bookings or general travel arrangements including trips and tours whilst you are in Israel, please e-mail us (wedding@elianddan.com) and we will ask her to get in touch with you to discuss.

Accommodation

Tel Aviv, like most major cities, has hotels and accommodation for all budgets. Whether you want to stay in a luxury hotel, boutique or an Airbnb, you'll be spoilt for choice. The general rule is that the hotels "along the front" with a swimming pool are the most expensive (mostly 4* or 5*) at an average price of $200-300 per night, whilst hotels without a pool (or a couple of streets back) are priced around $100-150 per night.

Airbnb's are likely to be the most cost effective option, and some also have swimming pools. We'd advise staying within a 10 minute drive of the beachfront. For more information, please just ask us for tips, or speak to our wedding planner who'll be able to help!

(NB: Hotel rates are in US Dollars, not Israeli Shekels - don't ask us why!)

Getting Around

The best way to get around Tel Aviv is on foot as the city is flat and compact. There are also extensive buses ("otobusim") and shared taxis ("sherut") each costing around 5 shekels (£1) per journey. Download the app "moovit" to navigate Israeli public transport, or just shout like the locals do...

Taxis ("monit") are everywhere but we recommend downloading the app "Gett" as it allows you to input your journey, order official taxis, ensure that the fare is charged according to the meter, and pay through the app. Use the referral code "GTIWNNJ" and receive 5 x 20 Shekel coupons for each of your first 5 rides.

Travel tip: there is no public transport during the Jewish sabbath (from Friday evening to Saturday night), but the taxis and sheruts continue to run (higher fares may apply).

Note

How long should I stay for?

If you are able to come early we would recommend arriving in Israel no later than Thursday 12 September as we are likely to hold extra festivities before the big day.
