Our Story

It all began in the fall of 2011, when fate disguised itself as an internship.

Sandra won Gibson over with her love for hip hop and completely stunned him when she casually mentioned her upcoming mixtape under her rap name: 3Hunna. What she didn’t mention? She was totally joking. By the time she came clean, everyone in the office already knew two things: 1) Sandra was (allegedly) a rapper, and 2) Gibson definitely had a crush.

Busy schedules kept them apart at times, but every reunion sparked something undeniable. Sandra began to realize she liked Gibson just as much as he did. After a hangout with friends one night, Sandra offered Gibson a ride home. Before stepping out of the car, he looked her in the eyes and said: “I know I’m not the man you deserve right now, but I’m going to marry you one day.” They both laughed, but something about that moment was captured in time.

Two years later, Gibson brought Sandra flowers and asked Don Abel (in Spanish) for permission to date his daughter. They spent three beautiful years together before time called for growth: separately. With love and respect, they parted ways, giving each other the space they needed. For five years, life kept bringing them back into each other’s orbit, until finally, they listened. Love like theirs doesn’t fade — it waits.

In 2024, with quiet intention and a full heart, Gibson asked Sandra’s parents for her hand in marriage; this time in secret.

He then brought Sandra to his homeland, Nairobi, Kenya, for a trip that would change everything. They met family, visited childhood places, and explored the beauty of Africa together. During a Safari, Sandra noticed something was off: Gibson was unusually quiet, distant, anxious. Little did she know, his thoughts were racing for one reason.

That night, under the vast African sky, Gibson got down on one knee.

In that moment, everything made sense. The time, the space, the journey, all leading to one simple truth: it was always them.

Today, their once-upon-a-time becomes forever, and we’re so honored you’re here to witness it.

About the couple

How did you first meet?

We first met at a Neighborhood Watch Meeting where we were paired up by Marcos Sanchez to do outreach together. This is where we first connected over music and community work. We never imagined the friendship we would develop. We didn't see each other for weeks after that.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We’re heading somewhere beautiful and full of love,a place where time slows down, sunsets last forever, and it’s just the two of us. We're thinking somewhere in the U.S Virgin Islands.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Charbroiled Oysters in New Orleans. Honestly maybe everything in New Orleans. Also, the first time we had Sugarfish together! *drools

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Mexico, 2015. Mami Tere and all our loved ones in CDMX greeted Gibson (then a stranger to them) with a surprise 26th birthday party. That was the trip where we both realized (at different moments) we more-than "loved" each other. We were in love.

Also, Kenya 2025. The safari. The proposal.

We take pride in

Our Vinyl collection that we are still growing. Also our space we call home and the safety it generates not just for us but our friends and family.

What was your most memorable date?

When we went to the Grand Canyon. Completely unprepared and in chanclas.

Who's going to take out the trash?

Gibson. The man of the house!

What's your favorite activity together?

Going to record stores and trying new restaurants together.

We’re on the same page about

Importance of standing for something, investing in yourself, and how we show up for our families and friends.

A life goal of ours

To buy a home for our seven children (more like two).

The most spontaneous thing we’ve done

Going to TJ to buy tequila and tacos.

The dorkiest thing about us is

Gibson loves to watch Youtube videos on cars, trains, and the best camping toilets out there (although he doesn't camp). Sandra gets ready in the mornings while listening to scary/spooky podcasts and likes to window shop on Facebook Marketplace although she never actually buys anything.

We are regulars at

Kazunori and the San Fernando Brewery.
