Long before he asked her the question, he asked her family and friends. One by one. Over many months. When it was time, it rained so heavily that the restaurant almost couldn't seat them The band didn't know the song he requested. There were no special preparations. Just him, the ring, and the question. And it was all perfect.
He tapped her on the shoulder, and sheepishly held out a ring. He mumbled the question. He was in a cold sweat. She was on her phone, oblivious to the commotion. She felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned to see him holding out something shiny. Her heart skipped a beat, and her body went into fight or flight mode. She didn't hear the question. She didn't have to.
