Story
Jonathan: I have been telling Jenn that I met her at a Halloween party at our friends house for the last two years! To prove it I scoured through past photos but now, I must bow my head and admit, that our first meeting was at a school dance called Kinda Sorta Formals back in 2007. We both had different dates to the dance, but we ended up taking a group photo together. We had similar friends and occasionally saw each other, but nothing much more than Hi and Byes. Oh, and at the time, badminton was life. No time for girls. Pfft.
Fast forward four years later to 2011. I was living in San Diego at the time and I was driving up to Orange County back to my mom's house for the weekend. I randomly texted her and asked her if she wanted to go to a club to see a DJ (Honestly, I didn't even know who he was, but I do know it wasn't a far drive). She said "Sure!" and I proceeded to say, "Cool, you can invite your friends too." So she did. And I went alone. And together we all danced the night away and that was that.
A few weeks later, I was going back to Orange County and texted her to see if she wanted to go see a DJ I liked, and AGAIN I told her she can bring her friends (What an idiot, am I right?). Her friends couldn't go (planned?) so I picked her up and we went alone. I show off my terrible dance moves and I'm assuming it worked (psst. We're getting married). We started talking more often and when I found out she played the game Modern Warfare, my competitive side said "I challenge you!" We ended up hanging out, playing games and going on dates to see new shows/try new foods (Thank you nameless discount websites). For the next four years before I moved back up, I'd go to Orange County one weekend, she'd come down to San Diego the next. During the week, we would call each other, find a show to watch, and press play at the same time. Almost felt like she was right there with me. And here we are!
Jennifer: The first time I remember meeting Johnny was at Kinda Sorta Formals in 2007. He was my friend's date at the time and I actually don't remember interacting with him all that much. After that, we kept running into each other at social events since we were both in the same club together. He was always energetic, funny and LOUD, haha. He was always yelling out JENNY WANG, which I HATED. I remember thinking he was a fun person to be around but I was in a long term relationship at the time and wasn't really interested in other guys.
After graduating, I stayed in San Diego for another year but eventually moved back to Orange County in 2011. Johnny was also from OC so he would come back to visit his family here and there. One day, he invited me out to see a DJ at Yost and since I was single now, I figured why not? He said I could invite my friends as well.. so I did! A few weeks later he said he would be in town again to see another DJ that I also had been wanting to see too. This time my friends couldn't make it so it was just the two of us. While we were at the venue, a photographer came up and took our photo and said we would have beautiful children together.. awkward since we were only friends at the time! We never did end up finding that photo from that photographer that night..
We started talking more and getting to know each other better, and as it turns out we had a lot in common! Eventually hang outs turned into dates and the rest is history!
