WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!

Our Story

Most of you know the boring stuff about how we got together but in preparation for our big day, we thought we would share some of our hilarious and/or awkward stories of our time together. Like every classic love story ours started with a girl who needed help with IT and a boy who slid his business card across the table ("very smoothly" George would like to add)

Our first date started with day drinking and bar hopping in South Fremantle. A few wines (or 7) later it progressed to us crashing Emma's family's mini golf outing. As all normal first meetings of your partner's parents go, George's ended with him and Andrew skipping up the mini golf course to the bar! It was in that moment that Emma realised that this guy was different and she wanted to keep him around.

Our first trip together to Margaret River was George's first introduction to Emma's obsession with having as many beverages in front of her at one time and her ability to describe wine only using hand gestures. It was on this road trip though that Emma also learned of George's love of top 40 pop music and his hilarious inability to remember any lyrics, but always just making something up to fit.

Skip forward a few years, many holidays, date nights, an apartment, buying our first house, our favourite puppy Stevie and then there was the proposal!

On our latest holiday in the US, we were in New Orleans drinking to-go Bloody Marys and wandering the streets! Chasing happy hour was the definite theme of our holiday and that's exactly what we were doing. We had been recommended a wine bar on Magazine Street and after making George walk 4 kms to get there he was very happy to see spare seats at the bar calling our name! Unfortunately for us we got asked for I.D. but, for this one bartender, the Australian drivers licenses weren't enough. We awkwardly got told if we couldn't produce our passports we couldn't order any wine. RUDE! Not letting anything kill our holiday buzz, we left to wander back down the street to our accommodation. On the way we stumbled upon a beautifully deteriorating mansion built in 1883, we walked in and thought we'd try our luck without our passports. That's when we met Rachel our bartender who was absolutely amazing, she was friendly, cool and helpful. One drink turned into several, Rachel told us the history of the mansion and we talked about the widow who haunted the house. We decided we would make a move and head to dinner at Cavan because Rachel had said we only had a few minutes before the next downfall of rain. I think we got caught up thanking Rachel and as we walked outside it had already started to sprinkle with rain. In the empty front courtyard of Cavan George got down on one knee and asked Emma 3 times if she would like to get married. Emma didn't say anything, she just cried!

We can't wait for you all to be there and celebrate with us and for us to be able to say thank you for the part you've all played in our story xx

Love Emma and George
