Story
How We Met:
Bella and I first met in an MCAT prep class during the fall semester of our junior year of college at IU Bloomington. In typical fashion for me at the time, I was running 5-10 minutes late to the first day of class. When I got there, there was only one seat remaining between my friend Josh and a girl I had seen around in class before but had never met personally. I came to find out during repeat student introductions (they repeated them since I was late…) that her name was Bella. Everyone ended up sitting in the same seats for each class, so I ended up sitting between the girl I had seen around before and Josh every other Sunday for the remainder of the semester not knowing at the time I would end up marrying the person to my left.
It was Bella. Not Josh. Sorry, Josh.
The class began in late October and met every other Sunday – meaning there were only four classes total during the fall semester. As it happens, I’ve been a pretty shy kid for most of my life, so we didn’t end up talking much during those four classes. But, at some point, I think I scribbled some (probably incorrect) physics calculations in her study book after I had forgotten mine for class one day. (I was obviously very prepared for this class.)
Even though we didn’t talk much, we talked enough that I was disappointed to find out at the end of the semester that she would be switching out of the class that met on Sundays to a different class after we came back from winter break. So, after our fourth and final three-hour class of the fall semester, we didn’t see each other much until the following fall semester of our senior year of college.
How We Started Dating:
Kyle and I had 2 classes back-to-back 3 days a week senior year of college which meant we ended up studying and hanging out a lot outside of class. However, it was senior homecoming when we met up at the tailgate fields and ended up spending the rest of the day together and going on a spontaneous dinner date that same night!
How We Got Engaged:
In December of our 3rd year of medical school, Kyle and I had both taken our anesthesia final exams together and decided to go to Florida to visit his older sister and her family. On our way there, our flight was delayed 7 hours and was struck by lightening on the way down! Kyle had initially planned to propose at sunset on the beach but it was 10pm and pitch black when we actually got there. I had no idea he was planning on proposing that night, but I was so happy to say yes!
