STORY

Steven and Lindsey have been everyone's favorite volatile lovebirds since 2008 when they met at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. Since then, they've snuck onto hundreds of docks, flirted with crunchy paganism in Portland, and survived masters programs in the Chicago tundra. They figured it was about time to give the people who have supported the ups and downs of their romance the party they deserve, so they did the ring thing on Lindsey's birthday in 2019 and are so excited to throw a celebration of love like y'all ain't never seen.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

Steven recognized Lindsey from high school in Barton Creek Mall in 2005 and yelled something about a rumor while passing by. We didn't speak until we ended up at the same party in 2008 and were the only people left who didn't run from the cops when it got busted.

Who made the first move? How?

If you guess this wrong you're uninvited.

Who's going to take out the trash?

The trash goblin who lives in our attic.

What was your most memorable date?

Once we went to a Russian spa where a large, Mongolian man slapped Steven's naked body with palm branches soaked in boiling hot water and it was hilarious.

What's your favorite activity together?

Filling our private jet with gold coins and hiking.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Whoever gives Lindsey Valium so she can fly can pick where we go.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Any meal eaten inside a pillow fort while wearing sweatpants.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

We took a Greyhound across the country when we were young(er) and poor(er) and the shared trauma really bonded us. There was a man (almost 7 feet tall) wearing a Mad Hatter's top hat from Party City or something who had "trained" Madagascar cockroaches coming out of his sleeves when we were stopped in Amarillo (which had no walls on one side of the building and just one lightbulb hanging from a chain). Outside of El Paso the bus hit a car after we hadn't stopped for 15 hours because the bus got raided by the DEA in Yuma and the cops tried to hold the bus but this pregnant woman got so upset she convinced everyone to riot and try to tip the bus over. The bathroom door had come off its hinges about 36 hours before this. We do not speak of this event.

Getting In

Austin Bergstrom is all we got for flying--luckily, it's extremely accessible from the area of town the venue and hotels are at. :)

Please see the CDC website if you have concerns about COVID and flying or other travel.

Car

Getting to the Hotel & Venue

Ubering from the airport can be a bit expensive--while the drive is short, the distance is a tad long. If possible, you might consider carpooling with another guest. If you do have to uber from the airport, don't stress too much! The hotels are very close to the venue, and both are close to everything you'd want to see during your stay in Austin. Aka. that will be, by far, the most you spend in transpo the whole trip.

House

AirBnb

We believe Austin's best seen from an AirBnb. To get the most bang for your book, try to stay near the Rosewood or Chestnut neighborhoods of East Austin. If you're feeling a little fancier and are okay with a longer commute to the venue, you'll love South Congress or Zilker.

Barton Springs / Barkin' Springs - Barton Springs is famous for its public access to Edward's Aquifer, keeping the water at 65 degrees year-round. The hours have changed due to COVID, so make sure to Google. Also, locals know that if you go to the LEFT of the main entrance area, you can walk down some steps to enter the free, natural side of the pool where dogs run off leash and the beer flows like wine.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

Do we need to get tested for COVID prior to arrival?

Yes. We are asking, respectfully, that all guests acquire a COVID test and demonstrate proof of negativity prior to or at arrival. We are working on ways to make this easier for everyone, and will post/email details regarding how to get tested cheaply, what the window is, and how to deliver proof. A full round of vaccines is also acceptable, of course.

Will the ceremony and reception be socially distanced?

While testing negative for COVID is a requirement for entry into the venue, we will still be implementing some safety procedures. Please be aware that there will be a brief screening and temperature check at the gate, sanitization stations throughout the venue, and a mask requirement when social distancing will not be possible: this includes the ceremony and approaching the bar. Disposable masks will be provided, but we recommend bringing a cloth mask as well.

Are masks required? Will they be provided?

Masks are encouraged as often as possible, and absolutely required where social distancing is not an option per venue regulations (and ours, frankly): this so far includes the ceremony and while approaching the bar.

What if I am still worried about COVID and think I might need to cancel?

We understand that it remains difficult to travel during this time, and that some of our guests may no longer feel that they can attend due to safety concerns (because, let’s face it, we all hoped things would be a tad brighter than they are). If you must cancel your RSVP, we ask that--if you are open to it--you contact us directly so that we can see if there is any way we are able to better accommodate you. If you are still not able to attend after this, let us know. ***If you are concerned about potentially cancelling, please do so by March 1st if at all possible, as we will need to solidify guest count for safety reasons.***

What will the weather be like?

It's Austin, baby--who knows! Expect it to be balmy when you arrive and to cool off a bit as the sun sets. Average temperatures for the the last week in March are between 52 and 76 degrees (but it's been in the 90s a few times in my life during that week). There will be both indoor and outdoor space, but dinner will be outside. There is an area to hang coats if you would like to bring something light to throw on in the evening.

Are kids welcome?

This is an adults only event. 21+ for both ceremony and reception, which means, yes, you can curse freely and take shots.

Where should I park?

We are working on parking accommodations as well as rideshare codes and other forms of transportation. Know that parking is limited and drunk driving is not an option.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

The entry to the indoor space is not currently ADA accessible, but the outdoors is generally comfortable to maneuver. We are working on options to make the space accessible for all bodies.

What should I wear?

As your "Details" card in the invitation package touches on, this wedding is quasi-themed and the theme ain't done justice unless you dress to the nines! And be nines, we mean cosmic cowboy, sparkly suits n' boots, funky artsy vintage pieces you've been scared to wear that are taking up the back of the closet, etc. You can check out our moodboard at . We recommend looking locally for pieces at Lucy In Disguise, Room Service Vintage, New Bohemia, Blue Velvet, and Charm School Vintage. If buying new online, you might have to be a bit more selective, but we have seen pieces on , , and even that would be welcome looks. Take this opportunity to mix it up and enjoy yourself. No need to dress demurely or spend a fortune, but we want you to feel glamorous.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

We highly encourage cowboy boots or flat shoes. The outside area is stone. If you want to wear heels, that's your prerogative, but we will keep you up and dancing with or without your shoes on.

Can I bring a date?

If you are unsure whether or not you have a +1, please reach out to us immediately. If you were interested in bringing a date but did not request one, we apologize but due to COVID restrictions, we are cutting the guest list at this time and will not be able to accommodate. ***We will not be able to let your date in if they are not on the list.***

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

We are changing our last name to Lascaux! Many years ago, we fell in love with the history of the Lascaux caves, and noticed it was a phonetic portmanteau of "Scott" and "Lucas." Interestingly enough, Lascaux is not the name of an explorer, archaeologist, or geologist, but is in fact an anglicization of "the rocks."

We have disposable cameras that you may use for the ceremony, but otherwise ask that you keep your phone silenced and in your pocket until the cocktail hour.

Are masks required? Will they be provided?

Masks are encouraged as often as possible, and absolutely required where social distancing is not an option per venue regulations (and ours, frankly): this so far includes the ceremony and while approaching the bar.

If you are concerned about potentially cancelling, please do so by March 1st if at all possible, as we will need to solidify guest count for safety reasons.

Whom should I call with questions?

Will the ceremony and reception be socially distanced?

While testing negative for COVID is a requirement for entry into the venue, we will still be implementing some safety procedures. Please be aware that there will be a brief screening and temperature check at the gate, sanitization stations throughout the venue, and a mask requirement when social distancing will not be possible: this includes the ceremony and approaching the bar. Disposable masks will be provided, but we recommend bringing a cloth mask as well.
