Story
We met at Emily and Ryan's wedding in Cincinnati. Everyone at the table made introductions and we figured out pretty quickly that we both grew up in Southern California. When all the couples got up to dance, we moved closer to talk and discovered our shared homesickness for our favorite food (El Pollo Loco). Rachel followed Emily to the after party at the hotel bar and Rob followed Rachel. We talked for many more hours and exchanged phone numbers. He texted her when they both got back to Chicago and there hasn't been a day since that we haven't been in touch - even if it's just a text (actually, it was a LOT of texts for the first few months!).
For the next 20 months, we had a "long distance" relationship between Rogers Park and Lakeview (it's only 4.5 miles, but that's FAR in Chicago without a car!) until we moved in together in our condo in Edgewater.
Rob introduced Rachel to kayaking on Lake Michigan, classical music performances, and the best Mexican food in Chicago. Rachel introduced Rob to bad reality TV, musicals, and travel (we've been to the Michigan Shore in the dead of winter, Door County, Portland, Bend, Seattle, and Costa Rica...and the possible Honeymoon list is endless!) We look forward to more of all these things, and so many more adventures!
On Friday the 13th, in May 2016, we got engaged, and we can't wait to celebrate with everyone in April!
