Story
Ricky and Emma met at Holy Cross in the fall of 2010. While Emma recognized Ricky as the “lacrosse player who sat in the back row in her Calculus class”, Ricky only knew Emma as the girl who gave “dirty looks” in the library. Needless to say, it wasn’t love at first sight. After hearing of Ricky’s incorrect perception of Emma, she made an active effort to always greet Ricky with a wide smile and an enthusiastic wave whenever their paths crossed on campus. This ultimately led to close friendship, which developed into a relationship shortly after Ricky asked Emma on a date to the Pancake Man on the last day of Holy Cross’s annual Cape Week. Ricky and Emma soon realized this was the start of something special. Ricky officially asked Emma to be his “girlfriend” two days into summer on May 26, 2011, despite realizing that they may not see each other until September (Emma lived outside of Chicago and Ricky lived in New York).
Fast forward six years to May 26, 2017: Ricky picked Emma up from a hectic train ride (as it was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend) to his family’s house in the Hamptons. Rather than going straight home after the train ride, Ricky drove by his house to the bay to toast with a glass of champagne to six wonderful years. This is a special place for the couple, as they have watched several sunsets at the bay over the years. Little did Emma know that less than five minutes later, Ricky would ask her the most important question of their lives. Emma immediately replied “OF COURSE!!”, and the rest is history. We are so excited to share the day with our families and close friends! We cannot wait for the adventures that lie ahead as a married couple!!
