Q & A
There are many moving parts—especially with a wedding held in crazy 2020! Please see our Q&A with frequently-asked questions so we're all on the same page.
What are you doing about COVID-19?
We are optimistic that we will still be able to celebrate our wedding as planned, but with key changes to keep our guests' health in mind.
KCMO restricted capacity of venues such as ours to 50% occupancy (which is now not required). The capacity of our venue is 450 people, and our group will be less than 1/4 of that number. Needless to say, we have plenty of room to spread out. No other weddings are held on the property.
Other precautions we are taking:
- No more than 8 guests seated at all dining tables (instead of 10)
- All tables will be more than 6 feet apart, grouped by family or home location wherever possible
- Ample hand sanitizer will be available (including a personal bottle for each guest at place settings)
- All vendors & staff are required to wear masks
- Doors/surfaces will be sanitized throughout the evening
- There is plenty of space—6,000 square feet in the reception space alone—let's use it!
- As much as Lauren loves hugs, she asks that all guests refrain
Do I need to wear a mask to the wedding?
Legally, no. It's a private business. However, to protect others, Lauren & Ethan ask that you wear a mask while indoors whenever it is feasible.
For example, please wear a mask:
- when in line at the bar—wear a mask and spread out from others
- when going through the (served) buffet line—wear a mask and spread out from others
- when speaking to people who you do not know well—wear a mask and give some space
You can remove your mask in situations like:
- when eating or drinking
- when seated at your (distanced) table
- when just around people who are comfortable with no masks —say your family, who you drove in with—and you've verbally agreed.
- when you're dancing with a group of people you see regularly, you've verbally agreed, and remain in a distanced area away from others who might be more cautious (luckily the dance floor is large!)
I'm very cautious due to COVID. What are my options?
Wear A Mask
All vendors and staff are required to wear masks. The mask mandate of KCMO does not apply to our venue because it is a private business. That said, we encourage our guests to wear masks should they choose.
If you feel weird about wearing a mask to a wedding, just do what the bride does—find a fun fabric print! If you want a laugh, ask the groom how many patterns the bride has for her one face. (Her favorite right now is bright pink flamingos followed by a cute puppy print).
Attend Just The Ceremony
One note is that our 15-minute wedding ceremony will be held outside in the Open Air Chapel. You may absolutely choose to attend the ceremony without the indoor reception if it will make you more comfortable. Should you choose to only attend the ceremony (and not the reception) due to COVID concerns, please let us know in your RSVP so we can accurately plan for dinner.
What time should I arrive for your ceremony?
Please feel free to arrive between 4:00 and 4:20 to ensure there is enough time to find your seats for the ceremony! You may come inside and remain out of the heat in the air conditioned junior ballroom if you arrive early. (Immediately viewable/accessible from main entrance).
What should I wear?
Cocktail attire— suits, cocktail dresses
Will the wedding be available online or via live stream?
The wedding will not be available online.
I don't feel comfortable attending due to COVID. Will the bride and groom hate me?
While we hope that everyone will be able to join us, we want to ensure that none of our guests feel uncomfortable or obligated. If you feel there is too much risk, we completely understand if you're not able to attend.
When is the RSVP deadline?
Our new RSVP deadline is July 23, 2020. Please submit or update your RSVP by that date to ensure we have an accurate count for August 14th.

Registries
Your presence is enough of a present to us!
That said, we have a "Universal Registry" with MyRegistry that lists all of our registries in one place (both Amazon and Bed Bath & Beyond, for example) in addition to a "Honeymoon Registry" on The Knot for honeymoon experiences.
