Like most romantic love stories, Nick and Virginia's story started at work. In the Fall of 2017, Virginia was living in Birmingham, AL at grad school at UAB and interviewing for jobs. She had one interview that would bring her back home to SC and lead her to meet Nick. During that interview one of her interviewers just so happened to be Nick.

Flash forward to 2018, Virginia started her job that Nick had helped interview her for and she moved to Charleston, SC. Nick was living in Orlando, FL but throughout the year there were meetings and more interviews that this time both Virginia and Nick helped facilitate. A friendship began building with each interaction.

Virginia traveled to Florida for a week to learn about the market dynamics and shadow the Florida team. Schedules changed, meetings were double booked and it just so happened that Nick was the only one now available for Virginia to shadow for the week. After multiple meetings and lots of windshield time, it was finally the night before Virginia was supposed to leave town. Nick asked Virginia if she wanted to go out to dinner. Virginia blew him off in exchange for eating at alone at the Courtyard Marriott. Virginia thought Nick was just being nice but assumed he had had enough of entertaining her all week. She would later find out Nick's perspective that she turned down their prospective first date.

Months went by and Virginia and Nick wouldn't see each other again until another work meeting in Birmingham. During some free time, Nick asked Virginia if she was hungry and would like to grab a bite. Virginia agreed this time and they went to Paramount bar which is known for their hot dogs and boiled peanut hummus. Unashamedly, Virginia ordered a hotdog and Nick ordered the same. The "date" went on for hours and it was the start of them together.

After four years of dating, lots of which were long distance through Nick's various moves for work, they continued to grow their relationship and love for each other. They returned to Birmingham for a weekend trip in December 2023 and in the city where they first met, had their first date, and eventually their first kiss, Nick proposed and they officially kicked off the rest of their lives together.
