Website Visibility

Updated this week

Sharing your wedding website is a big moment, and sometimes you want a little extra time to polish things before guests start looking around. That’s why Joy lets you keep your entire site in draft mode until you’re ready to go live.

Think of it as your private editing studio: build, tweak, rearrange, and perfect every page without worrying about what guests can see. When you’re happy with it, click Publish Website and voilà, your site is live.

Draft vs. Published

All new events will begin in Draft mode by default. You choose when to flip the switch and go live.

Draft (Unpublished)
Your whole website is hidden from guests. You can:

  • Edit any page or setting freely.

  • Update your theme, photos, and wording.

  • Preview the site as much as you want.

  • You'll see a banner that says: “Your website is hidden from guests for now. Publish it when you’re ready to share.”

Guests will:

  • See an “Under Construction” page if they visit your link.

  • Not see any event details until you publish.

This helps you avoid accidental surprises, unfinished pages, or that one photo you swear you’re replacing later.

Published
Your site is live and visible to guests. All your existing page privacy settings still work the same (Public, Hidden, Password Protected).

Publishing your website

There are two ways to go live:

  • Visit your guest site and click Publish Website on the purple banner.

  • Go to Event Settings, then the Website tab.

  • Toggle Publish your website and you're live.

Once you publish:

  • Guests can view your site normally.

  • The purple Draft banner disappears.

  • Your page-level visibility controls stay exactly the same.

Website Visibility vs. Page Visibility

These two controls now work together:

  • Website Visibility controls whether your entire site is Draft or Published.

  • Page Visibility still lets you manage each page individually (Public, Hidden, Password Protected).

Think of Draft mode as putting the whole site behind a curtain. Page Visibility is how you adjust what guests can see once the curtain is lifted.

Sharing your website while it’s still in draft mode

If you try to send an email, digital card, or Buy Stationery while your site is still unpublished, Joy will give you a heads up:

You can still copy the link if you need to, but we’ll help you avoid sending guests somewhere that isn’t ready.

Website Visibility gives you control and peace of mind while building your Joy site. Edit freely. Take your time. Publish only when you’re excited to share it with the people you love.
