Event Settings: Website

A guide to the Website tab in Event Settings, covering site visibility, page management, password protection, search privacy, announcement banners, and countdown settings.

Your Website settings control what guests see when they arrive: whether your site is live, which pages are visible, and what extra details greet them along the way. Most of these you configure once before sharing your site, but you'll come back to them when something changes or you want to add a finishing touch. This article covers everything in the Website tab.

From your Event Dashboard, click the gear icon, then select Event Settings. Click Website in the left panel.

Website Visibility

The Publish your website toggle controls whether your site is live and visible to guests. When off, guests who visit your URL will see an "under construction" message. Keep it off while you're still building, and turn it on when you're ready.

Publishing requires a verified email address. If you haven't verified yours yet, Joy will prompt you to do so before your site can go live.

For more on managing visibility, see Website Privacy Settings.

Pages

The Pages section lists every page on your site and lets you control their order and visibility. Drag and drop pages to change their order in the navigation. Click any page card to rename it, update its header photo, or change its visibility.

Each page can be set to Public (anyone with your link can see it), Password Protected (guests must enter your event password to view it), or Hidden (the page is turned off and invisible to guests). The banner at the top of the Pages section shows the overall status at a glance.

You can also add new custom pages using the + button next to the Pages heading.

For a full walkthrough of reordering, renaming, and hiding pages, see Change Page Order, Names, and Hide Pages.

Password Protections

Your Event Password is a single password that applies to any page set to Password Protected. You can set, change, and copy it from this section.

Toggle on Password protect event date or Password protect event location to hide those details from guests until they unlock your site.

For more on sharing your password with guests, see Change Your Event Password.

Search Privacy

Allow guests to search for my event on Joy controls whether your event appears in Joy's search at withjoy.com/find. When off, guests need your direct URL. They can't find your event by searching your names.

Allow my event to be found on Google etc. controls whether search engines can index your site. When off, Joy adds a noindex tag so your site won't appear in Google or Bing results. This toggle requires a verified email address. If yours isn't verified yet, the toggle will be disabled until you complete verification.

For a full overview of your privacy options, see Website Privacy Settings.

Announcement Banner

The Display announcement banner toggle shows or hides a banner on your guest site. When on, two fields appear: a Title for the bold heading and a Message for the body text. The banner appears as a popup about one second after guests land on your site, and they can dismiss it.

Use Preview Banner to see how it looks before saving.

Common uses include venue changes, parking details, dress code reminders, or any update you want guests to see the moment they arrive.

For full setup instructions, see Adding an Announcement Banner to Your Website.

Countdown and App Link

Event Countdown

The Display event countdown toggle shows or hides a countdown timer on your guest site. When on, use the Schedule Event dropdown to choose which event to count down to: Ceremony, Reception, or anything else on your schedule. If no schedule event is selected, the countdown defaults to your event date. If your event date is hidden in the General tab, the countdown is automatically disabled.

For full setup instructions, see Setting Up Your Event Countdown.

Get the App Link

The Display "Get the App" link toggle shows or hides a prompt encouraging guests to download the Joy mobile app. When on, guests see a link to download the app alongside your App Photo, which you can update from this section.
