Your event is happening. People are laughing, taking photos, living in the moment and with Live Album, those photos can show up on the big screen in real time. You add your own shots, guests contribute theirs via a QR code or share link, and the slideshow runs while you enjoy the night.
Live Album lives in the same part of Joy as your other photos, but it works differently from the others. Moments is a guest-facing feed that lives on your event website. Albums are collections you create to share photos, also on your website. Live Album is a real-time slideshow designed to run on a screen at your venue.
Get Started
Click Photo Moments from your Event Dashboard.
Scroll down to the Live Album section and click Learn More to purchase and unlock the feature.
Once purchased, Live Album appears under Albums in your Photos section, badged with a Live label.
Add Your Own Photos
Click Add Photos in the top right corner of the Live Album editor.
A modal will appear showing any photos already uploaded to your Joy account. You can select from those or click Upload Photos to add new ones from your device.
Select the photos you want to include by clicking them. A checkmark will appear on each selected photo.
Click Add to Album to add them to the slideshow.
Photos you add as a host go directly into the slideshow without needing approval.
Manage Album Settings
At the top of the Live Album editor, you'll see three controls:
Album Visibility
Public makes the album visible to guests on your website
Hidden keeps it off your site entirely. Hidden is the default. The slideshow still runs at your event either way.
Guest Uploads
Allowed lets guests contribute photos
Disabled turns off guest submissions.
Sort By: Approval Status
This sorts your photos so you can review and approve guest submissions before they appear in the slideshow.
Share the Album With Guests
To let guests upload photos directly to your Live Album, click Edit Album in the top right of the editor.
The Edit Album modal shows:
Allow Uploads toggle - turn this on to accept guest photo submissions. Note: Album Visibility must be set to before this toggle can be enabled.
Link - a direct URL guests can use to upload photos and view the album.
Click Share Link to copy the link and share it with guests however you like - text, email, or your event website.
Note: Anyone with the share link will be able to see photos uploaded to this album, not just upload them.
Start the Slideshow
When you're ready to display the slideshow on a screen at your event, click Slideshow in the top right of the Live Album editor.
The Slideshow Settings modal will appear. From here:
Enter a number in Transition Duration (seconds) to control how long each photo displays before moving to the next. The default is 3 seconds.
Toggle Show QR Code on to display a QR code in the corner of the slideshow. Guests can scan it to contribute photos directly from their phones.
Click Start Slideshow to launch.
The slideshow will open fullscreen. If you enabled the QR code, it appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen labeled Share a Photo.
Tip: For the best experience, open the slideshow on the device connected to your venue's display screen before the event starts so it's ready to go when guests arrive.
How Guests Contribute Photos
Guests can submit photos by scanning the QR code displayed on the slideshow screen or by using the share link you send them directly. They'll be directed to an upload page where they can chose photos from their library or camera.
Guest photos go through an approval step before they appear in the slideshow. They'll be displayed on your admin Album Page and you can reject or approve each photo.
Get Back to Live Album
From your Event Dashboard, click Photo Moments.
Click Live Album under Albums.
