Set an RSVP Deadline

How to set an RSVP deadline so Joy automatically closes your RSVP form on a chosen date, including how to set a grace period for late responses.

The caterer needs numbers. The planner needs a headcount. As your event gets closer, the list of things competing for your attention gets longer, and closing your RSVP form shouldn't be one of them. Setting a deadline gives guests a clear window to respond and lets Joy handle the rest. When the date arrives, the form closes on its own.

Click RSVP from your Event Dashboard, then click Settings at the top of the page.

Set the Deadline

  • Toggle Set an RSVP deadline on.

  • Click the Deadline date field and select your cutoff date. Deadlines close at midnight in your local timezone, so a date of February 14th means RSVPs close at 11:59 PM on February 14th.

  • Toggle Show deadline to guests on if you want the deadline displayed on your event website. When this is on, guests will see the date next to the RSVP button as a prompt to respond in time.

Once the deadline passes, the RSVP button disappears from your site and guests can no longer submit a response.

Allow a Grace Period

Life happens. If you want to leave a small window open after the deadline for guests who respond late, toggle on Allow late RSVPs (grace period) and choose a duration from the Grace period dropdown. Options range from 6 hours to 96 hours.

The grace period closes automatically when the time is up.
