Guests have been contributing, and now you're wondering when it all lands. Here's what to expect depending on how they paid, and when to reach out if funds take longer than they should.
Credit card contributions and Get Cash Equivalent
Once your cash fund is set up, guests can start contributing by credit card within 24 hours. After that, here is what to expect:
Contribution to Joy Wallet: Most contributions appear within 1 to 3 business days. Some arrive sooner.
Joy Wallet to your bank: Once you request a transfer, funds typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days. A $1.70 fee applies to each transfer. If it has been 6 or more business days and your funds haven't arrived, reach out to our support team and we'll look into it.
PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp
When a guest selects PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp on your registry, they are redirected to the payment handle you have provided and complete the transaction directly in that app. Once they do, the funds land in your linked account on that platform immediately.
For PayPal and Venmo contributions, the option your guest selects at checkout affects whether a fee is deducted from what you receive. If they choose Goods and Services, the platform will charge a fee on your end. If they choose Friends and Family (also called Personal Payments on PayPal), no fee is deducted from your amount.
Note: When a guest selects a payment method, Joy marks their contribution as reserved. Reserved does not mean money has moved yet. If you haven't received anything in your PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp account, the guest may not have finished their transaction. You can send them a reminder to follow through if you aren't seeing it in the linked payment platform.
Because these platforms are not trackable in Joy, you will manage your balance and any transfers to your bank directly through each provider.
Transferring your balance to your bank
Once funds are in your PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp account, each platform gives you two options for moving money to your bank:
Standard transfer: Free. Funds typically arrive within 1 to 3 business days.
Instant transfer: Funds arrive within 30 minutes. Fees vary by platform:
PayPal: 1.75% fee
Venmo: 1.75% fee
CashApp: 0.5% to 1.75% fee
