Use Joy in ChatGPT

How to find, install, and use the Joy plugin for ChatGPT to manage your event website, guest list, RSVPs, and more in conversation.

If you're already working through your event details in ChatGPT, Joy can meet you there. The Joy plugin connects your event directly to ChatGPT so you can design your website, manage your guest list, and review RSVPs in conversation, without switching apps. Once you're signed in, you can describe what you need in plain language and Joy handles the rest.

Setting up the Joy plugin

To get started, you'll need a Joy account with owner or admin access to your event.

  • Click Plugins in the left sidebar of ChatGPT.

  • Search "joy" in the search bar.

  • Click + next to Joy.

  • Sign in with your Joy account when prompted.

Once you're connected, start a new chat and describe what you want to do. You can say "I want to work on my website," "show me who hasn't RSVP'd," or "I want a beach feel for our design." No menus to navigate, no special commands. Joy understands plain language and takes it from there.

What you can manage

Website design

Start with the feel you're going for. "I want something romantic and intimate" or "give me a coastal vibe" is all it needs. Joy handles the parts that trip most people up: choosing fonts that actually work together, finding colors that don't clash, picking a layout that makes the site feel intentional. You make the calls, it does the heavy lifting.

Once you've landed on a direction, you can get as specific as you want. "Try a softer color palette," "I want the font to feel more elegant," "make the layout feel less busy." Joy adjusts without starting over, and checks for inconsistencies before anything gets applied. When you're ready, you can see your actual website rendered in full inside ChatGPT before committing to anything.

  • Pin the preview to keep it visible as you work, so you can watch changes happen in real time

  • Make granular changes at any point: "try a darker background" or "change this font" and Joy updates it without starting over

  • Apply everything at once when you're ready

Photos

Once your design is taking shape, type "can we add some photos?" and Joy surfaces a photo picker right in the conversation. Add photos from a public link, and Joy can help you decide which ones work best for the look you've chosen.

  • View your photo library and albums

  • Create and manage albums, and set the main photo for any page

Website content

Say which page you want to work on. "Rewrite our story page" or "update the travel section to include parking info" and it reads what's there, makes the change, and shows you a preview before anything is replaced. It also knows what's filler when you're starting from scratch, and can walk you through a pre-publication checklist when you're ready to go live.

  • Read and edit any page, including your Q&A, wedding party, travel tips, where to stay, and more

  • Add, rename, or remove pages

  • Change who can see a page

New content is added right away. Replacing or removing content shows a preview first. All changes stay on your draft until you publish.

Schedule

Describe what you need and Joy builds it out. "Add a ceremony at 4pm at St. Patrick's Cathedral, black tie" is all it needs. Removing or changing an item always shows a preview first.

  • View your full schedule, including items hidden from guests

  • Add, edit, or remove schedule items (name, time, location, description, dress code, and audience)

Event details

Update your date, venue, host names, or display name mid-conversation. If you change your venue, Joy will also pull in nearby hotels automatically.

  • Research and compare venues by name or city before deciding

  • Set your chosen venue directly from the conversation

Website settings

When you're ready to go live, ask Joy to walk you through the final checks. It reviews your visibility settings, web address, and page order, and shows you exactly what will go public before you confirm.

  • View and update your web address, custom domain, and site visibility

  • Control whether guests need a password to see your date or venue

  • Change your RSVP display and guest site language

Your guest password itself is set in Joy, not through the plugin.

Guest list

Add guests one at a time or in bulk. "Add Sarah Chen to the guest list" or paste a full list and Joy handles it. It shows you a preview before making any changes, and you can tag guests by table, group, or VIP status right in the conversation.

  • Look up a guest's details, contact information, or household

  • Remove a guest (Joy shows a preview of who will be affected before confirming)

Bulk import supports first name, last name, and email only. Household grouping and mailing addresses aren't included on import, and duplicate names or emails are skipped automatically. To edit a guest's name, email, phone, or address after they've been added, go to Joy directly.

RSVPs

Check in at any point. Ask "how many people have RSVP'd?" or "what did Sarah order?" and Joy pulls it up immediately. You can update your form questions, record a guest's response on their behalf, or find out who hasn't answered yet.

  • Check your aggregate count (attending, declined, and no reply)

  • Record a guest's attendance or meal choice on their behalf

  • Add, edit, turn on or off, or remove custom questions from your RSVP form

A few things to know: RSVP responses are yes or no only. There's no maybe, and a reply can't be cleared once it's set. Built-in questions (like attendance) can be turned off but not deleted. Changing meal options updates the live form for every guest immediately.

Guided help

Not sure where to start? Go ahead and ask. Joy can tell you what's left to do, walk you through any part of the process, or help you think through your design direction. You can also send feedback to Joy directly from the conversation. It won't make any changes to your event.

What you'll still do in Joy

Some features aren't available through the plugin. You'll manage these directly in Joy:

  • Registry and cash funds

  • Guest messaging (email, SMS, and digital cards)

  • Seating chart

  • Hotel room blocks and contact collector

  • Print and stationery orders

  • Payments and billing

  • Setting or changing your guest password

  • Editing a guest's name, email, phone, or address after they've been added

  • Household grouping and mailing addresses on import

  • Adding or removing website admins, account email, and billing settings

Note: Content and photo edits go to your draft site and are only visible to guests after you publish.
