Owlpen Manor
Deep in a private Cotswold valley, Owlpen Manor has been described as "the most beautiful place in England." The Tudor Manor House is steeped in 800 years of history, with Arts and Crafts furniture and its own community of ghosts. We are an exclusive wedding venue for 20-200 people, and we welcome guests to our nine self-catering boutique Cotswold holiday cottages, which are all dog-friendly accommodation and perfect for families. They offer an unforgettable stay in this hidden corner of Gloucestershire between Tetbury and Stroud, and sleep between two and eight people.
Getting to Owlpen by train or car
Owlpen is accessible via train if you travel to Stroud station. From Stroud, it will be important to arrange taxis in advance (uber hasn't made its way into the quiet beauty of this part of the Cotswolds yet!)
If coming from London, there are direct trains from Paddington station.
If driving, Owlpen is tucked away and definitely one where a satnav or google maps will be your friend! The M4 or A40 will get you most of the way there. If coming through Uley, Fiery Lane will take you to Owlpen - you'll see the Old Crown Inn which marks this turn. If arriving through Kingscote, there is an unmarked turn just after crossing the B4058. A stunning drive, but a very tight one! If uncomfortable with one track roads where you may have to back up - make sure to go through Uley and Fiery Lane!
Summer in the Cotswolds is beautiful. Let's enjoy it together!
Bring shoes which you are comfortable to walk/hike in, and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty! For guests staying four nights, there will be trips to local pubs, crafts, and long ambling walks. Dogs are very welcome for the duration, and encouraged! Bringing books, boardgames, and even a swimsuit is encouraged!
Guest joining us for two nights, we will enjoy a walk the day before the wedding followed by an evening barbecue. We would love for you to make sure you felt relaxed and at ease, able to enjoy your leisurely time in the Cotswolds.
And of course, one can never predict the weather. It wouldn't hurt to have something water proof, because the forest is still lovely in the rain!
AirBNB
While we would love as many of our guests to stay with us in the cottages available, or potentially glamping if preferred - we understand that some may have other needs, and we absolutely recommend AirBnb to our guests who would prefer to arrange their own separate accomodation. Having stayed in the area a few times now, and each time with a lovely different host or interesting, unique space - we can't recommend enough for different price points and desires!
For those who prefer a traditional hotel
For those who prefer a traditional hotel experience, or perhaps even a luxurious spa vacation where you happen to also attend a wedding - consider the following. They are all relatively local to Owlpen, and have wonderful ratings:

Things to do in Uley
Uley Long Barrow (Hetty Pegler's Tump) - a partially reconstructed Neolithic chambered mound. It is 37 metres long and overlooks the Severn Valley. It's known locally as Hetty Pegler's Tump, after Hester Pegler who owned the land in the 17th century.
The barrow as seen today is largely the result of the excavation and reconstruction undertaken by Dr John Thurnham in 1854 and subsequent repairs in 1871, 1891 and 1906.
