Have a design you already love? Upload Your Own lets you turn your artwork into a website theme in just a few clicks. From custom illustrations to simple textures or patterns, you can shape the look of your site and make it feel uniquely yours.
Upload Your Own Theme Art
Go to the Design tab for your event website.
Click Art.
Scroll through the theme options until you see Upload Your Own.
Click Upload Your Own.
Click Add Photos.
If you don't upload anything right away, you’ll see a starter state inviting you to add your art later.
Upload Separate Art for Desktop and Mobile
Desktop and mobile artwork are uploaded separately. This gives you more control over how your design looks on different screens.
Select Desktop or Mobile.
Click Upload Photos.
Upload an image from your computer, Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, or choose one from Unsplash (a library of free high-quality images).
Once the Art is uploaded click Select Art.
Next, follow the same steps to select Art for mobile.
You might use a full illustration on desktop and a simpler background color or cropped image on mobile.
See How Your Art Looks on Different Layouts
Your uploaded artwork behaves just like Joy’s built-in themes and adapts to each layout style.
Classic Navigation and Simple Scroll layouts showcase your artwork along the sides on desktop and at the top on mobile.
Split View layouts use your artwork as the main background area.
You can switch layouts at any time to preview how your design appears from the Layouts tab.
Use High-Quality Artwork You Have Rights To
For the best results, use high-quality images that you own or have permission to use.
Choose clear, high-resolution images so your design looks crisp on all screen sizes.
Avoid low-quality or heavily compressed files.
⚠️ Note: You’re responsible for ensuring that any artwork you upload complies with copyright and usage rights.
Switch Between Custom Art and Joy Themes
You can move freely between Joy’s themes and your uploaded artwork.
Your uploaded desktop and mobile designs stay saved.
Switching themes does not delete your custom uploads.
You can return to Upload Your Own at any time.
How Custom Themes Work With Digital Cards
Your uploaded artwork applies to your website only. The Basic Digital Cards use Joy’s default card designs. If you’d like to upload your own design for a Digital Card, that’s available with Premium Digital Cards. Learn how to upload a custom digital card design here.
