Joy's built-in themes cover a lot of ground, but sometimes you want something that's entirely yours. Maybe it's an illustration from your invitations, a pattern, a texture, or anything that makes your site feel like it couldn't belong to anyone else. The Upload Your Own option lets you bring that in as your website's art, for both desktop and mobile. Here's how to set it up.
How to upload your own theme
From your Event Dashboard, hover over Website, click the arrow, and select Design.
Click Art.
Scroll through the theme options until you see Upload Your Design and click it.
Click Add Photos
Select Desktop to start with your desktop design
Click Upload Photos and choose an image from your computer, Facebook, Google Drive, or Dropbox — or pick one from Unsplash, a free library of high-quality images
Once your image is uploaded, click Select Art
Select Mobile and repeat the upload steps for your mobile design
Click Save
Tip: Desktop and mobile artwork are uploaded separately, which gives you control over how your design looks on each screen. A full illustration might work beautifully on desktop, while a simpler crop or background color reads better on a phone.
Note: Only upload images you own or have permission to use. You're responsible for ensuring your artwork complies with copyright and usage rights.
How your art looks across layouts
Your uploaded artwork behaves just like Joy's built-in themes and adapts to whichever layout you're using.
Classic Navigation and Simple Scroll layouts display your artwork along the sides on desktop and at the top on mobile.
Split View layouts use your artwork as the main background area.
You can switch layouts at any time from the Layouts tab to preview how your design looks in each one.
Switching between your uploads and Joy's themes
Your custom uploads are always saved. Switching to one of Joy's built-in themes won't delete your desktop or mobile designs — you can return to Upload Your Own at any time and they'll still be there.
Custom themes and Digital Cards
Your uploaded artwork applies to your website only. Basic Digital Cards use Joy's default card designs. If you'd like your own artwork on a Digital Card, that's available with Premium Digital Cards. Learn how in Designing and Sending Premium Digital Cards.
